BYBA Divison 1 ends in a tight finish

The season for the three competing corps is now over with the exception of BYBA Finals and it could not have been closer at the top, just .08% split, Northern Star and Distant Thunder.

In the run up to the DCE European Championships taking place in the Sparta Stadium this Saturday, a warm up will be held on the Friday evening. In the heart of Rotterdam, six drum & bugle corps will be performing their show programme to a Rotterdam audience from 19.00 onwards.


High Brass return to DCE Championships

High Brass will be attending the DCE Finals at Sparta Stadium in Rotterdam, Holland. They will be bringing their merchandise stall to the market place once again where people will be able to listen to the band and buy CDs, t-shirts and other band memorabilia.


DCE commercial on TV from today

The DCE commercial will be shown tonight for the first time on the TV channel 'TV Rijnmond'. The 30-second commercial can be seen at around 17.25 during the commercial break between the news and sports. The commercial will be aired on the channel dozens of times this week. A QuickTime version can be downloaded from the DCE site.


Minor change to Prelims schedule

Internal circumstances have led DIO Drum & Bugle Corps to withdraw from the DCE Championships. The programme for the DCE Prelims has therefore been altered slightly. It will now begin quarter of an hour later at 9.15 AM.


2007 Championships selection criteria announced

Just as in 2006, selection criteria will apply for the DCE European Championships 2007. A number of corps can be assured of a place next year based on the position they achieve this coming Saturday. Others can be considered for a 'wildcard'.


824.000 viewers for DCI on ESPN2 broadcast

Audience measurement results provided by the network from the Sept. 5, Drum Corps International World Championship broadcast on ESPN2, show that more than 824,000 viewers tuned in for the two-hour broadcast.

Drum Corps Europe will broadcast a TV commercial to announce the DCE Championships 2006, to be held on September 23rd in Rotterdam. The commercial will be aired for one week on the regional television channel 'TV Rijnmond'.


Exhibition performances at DCUK Championships

Kidsgrove withdraw from DCE Championships

The Kidsgrove Scouts Drum & Bugle Corps have announced that they will not be attending the 2006 DCE Championships in Rotterdam this year. This is due to unforeseen financial difficulties that the corps has been put under over the last few weeks.

Black Knights win DCUK contest Grantham

Black Knights Drum & Bugle Corps from Gravesend has topped the DCUK Open Class in Grantham last Sunday. They scores 79.1. 37th Kingswood came in second with a score of 73.9. The Kidsgrove Scouts were not present in Grantham.


Buccaneers capture sixth DCA Championship

The Reading Buccaneers Drum & Bugle Corps finished its 2006 competitive season where it began it â?? as undefeated world champions. The Buccaneers bested twenty-four other competing units at the 42nd annual Drum Corps Associates World Championships, held this weekend at Paetec Park in Rochester - New York.


Extra event in Championships weekend

There will be an addition to the activities planned during the DCE Championships weekend. In the evening of Friday, 22nd September you will be able to watch drum corps in Rotterdam with the extra event 'Drum Corps Rocks the Town'. This event is free of charge.


Wölper Löwen still undefeated in DCG competition

Wölper Löwen Drum & Bugle Corps from Neustadt am Rübenberghe has topped the Drum Corps Germany contest in Gevelsberg yesterday. The corps' show was rewarded with 74.80. The Starriders came in second with a score of 68.83.


DCUK confirms details for forthcoming Finals

DCI announces 2006 attendance milestones

Drum Corps International today announced attendance milestones for its 2006 Summer Music Games Tour. DCI sanctioned a total of 143 competitions in 39 states this past summer, taking place over a 58-day time-frame. Total combined attendance for all events is estimated at more than 375,000.


Rehearsal fields available in Rotterdam

Corps that will be participating at the DCE European Championships, will be offered free warm up and rehearsal facilities. There are public rehearsal fields available at the Roel Langerakpark, at a few minutes walking distance of the Sparta Stadium.

DCF announces 2007 indoor competition

Next year, Drum Corps France will run its first competition season. The contests will be held in Wattrelos (Lille) on February 24th, the second one in the heart of France: Tours, on March 10th.

First Individuals & Ensembles contest in France

Maynard Ferguson dies at age of 78

Trumpeter Walter 'Maynard' Ferguson died on Wednesday at Community Memorial Hospital in Ventura - California. He was 78. Ferguson's death was the result of kidney and liver failure brought on by an abdominal infection.


Tickets centre section DCE Championships sold out

The centre section of the stand in the Sparta Stadium has been sold out for the DCE European Championships 2006. In other sections of the main stand there are still plenty of seats available.


Spectrum will not be attending WGI Euro Regional

Despite earlier reports, the US based Spectrum Winterguard from Tier - New York, will not be attending the European WGI Regional in London next year. Executive director Ben van Kurin of Spectrum announced this on the forums of Color Guard Planet.


New independent forum for UK drum corps

MarkTimeHut is a new forum for UK drum corps to discuss the matters which are important to them. The forum will only allow registered users to post, in an effort to avoid problems caused by anonymous posts on the previous drum corps forums.


Winners DCE patch announced

And the winner is... Ansgar Tasche from Bad Oldesloe. The German is one of ten people who will receive a free patch of the DCE Championships 2006. Ten patches have been raffled among those who have already ordered and paid for tickets by that date.


Dutch Drums aired on national radio with new single

The new CD single of percussion group Dutch Drums, 'Fiesta del Ritmo', is aired on the national Dutch radio station 'Radio 2'. A videoclip of the song has been recorded as well. Dutch Drums is formed by five drummers with a rich drum corps history, having marched in corps like Avalance and Blue Wave.


Concord announces many new projects

DCI Championships broadcasted on ESPN2

Drum Corps International will broadcast its World Championship television program on ESPN2 for the second year this September. The television event is the second prime-time broadcast of the program on commercial television, and will be available to more than 88 million households.

The Cavaliers are the DCI 2006 World Champions

It was too close for comfort among the top three corps, but the Cavaliers won their seventh DCI title Saturday night in Madison by capturing the Jim Ott Best Brass Award, the Best Visual Award, and the Don Angelica Best General Effect Award. Phantom Regiment surprised Blue Devils in capturing its first Fred Sanford Best Percussion Award, but Blue Devils nailed down the George Zingali Best Color Guard Award.

The Cavaliers have taken the first of three Division I shows at the DCI World Championships in Madison, Wisconsin, but two other corps appear to have not given up their right to lay claim to the big prize on Saturday night. International judging panel at DCE Championships

Like in previous years, an international judging panel will be present at this year's edition of the DCE European Championships in Rotterdam. Besides experienced judges from Europe, Drum Corps Europe has also invited DCI judges.
