Order of performances DCE prelims determined

Today, a draw has determined the order of performances for the DCE Open Class prelims in Rotterdam. The draw was held in the Sparta Rotterdam's press centre and was broadcasted through the DCE website.


Strängnäs won't field a corps in 2006

Strängnäs Drum & Bugle Corps from Sweden will not enter the DCE Championships this year. Due to low membership in the hornline, they are not able to field a corps.


Tomorrow: Draw for DCE Open Class prelims 2006

The draw for the DCE Championships Open Class prelims will take place tomorrow in Rotterdam. The draw will be held from 1:00 pm (local time) onwards in Sparta's press room at 'The Castle', and will be 'webcasted' via the internet.


Four years of daily drum corps news in Europe

Today, DCE celebrates the fourth anniversary of the DCE news page. The news page started as 'drumcorps.nl' on 22th June 2002 with news stories, originally in English and Dutch. In 2004, German and French language sections were added. Over 3,600 news stories have been created.


The Glassmen have landed in Europe

After a first week of competitions in the US, the Glassmen are taking their tour overseas for the first time to Europe. The corps landed yesterday morning safe and sound at London's Heathrow Airport.

DCUK opener: Black Knights first, Kidsgrove second

The Black Knights have topped the first Drum Corps United Kingdom contest in Warrington, last Sunday. The corps scored 65.0, 1.2 points ahead of the Kidsgrove Scouts. Phoenix Coventry won the A Class.


Beatrix tops DCN contest Hilversum

Beatrix Drum & Bugle Corps has topped the Open Class of the Drum Corps Netherlands contest in Beatrix' home town Hilversum. Eleven corps entered the second DCN contest.


Blue Diamonds announce 2006 tour schedule

The Blue Diamonds Drum & Bugle Corps has officially announced the performance schedule for their 2006 summer tour. The corps will be traveling abroad, visiting France, Poland, Berlin and the Netherlands while bringing their unique style of concerts and outdoor performances to the drum corps fans of Europe.

The draw for the DCE Championships prelims will take place on Saturday 24th June. Lots will be drawn to determine the order within the various groups, three months before the spectacular event in Rotterdam.

Dutch in DCI Foundation announces scholarships

The Dutch in DCI Foundation has awarded scholarships to three Dutch citizens who will be marching in DCI corps this summer. Each individual received a $300 scholarship.


Most tickets for centre section DCE 2006 sold

Ticket sales for the DCE Championships in Rotterdam on 23rd September are going extremely well, with tickets for the centre section of the stand selling particularly quickly. A month after the pre-sale began, most seats in the centre section have been sold already.


Senators to perform in exhibition in DCUK for 2006

The Senators Drum & Bugle Corps from Eastleigh Hampshire and Drum Corps United Kingdom have confirmed that the corps will be taking an active role within the DCUK 2006 summer calendar. The corps will however not be participating in the competitive arena at DCUK shows, they will instead be performing in exhibition.

Blast II: Music in Xtreme to premier in Kentucky

'Blast II: Music in Xtreme' will have its world premiere weekend on Thursday, June 22, at the RiverPark Center in Owensboro - Kentucky, prior to an extensive five-month tour of Japan. The original Blast! performed throughout the world, including the US and UK, both on Broadway and in London.


Color Guard Netherlands sets 2007 schedule

Color Guard Netherlands (CGN) has announced the completion of the 2007 contest schedule. The contests for Color Guard and Indoor Percussion are very popular in The Netherlands, and in 2007 an extra contest will be added to the competition schedule.

Drum Corps Europe has confirmed the date for the DCE Championships in 2007. Next year, the European Championships will be held on Saturday, September 29th.


Jubal tops first DCN contest

Jubal Drum & Bugle Corps has topped the Open Class of the first Drum Corps Netherlands contest, last night in Dordrecht. The corps scored 63.6 points, followed by Juliana from Middelburg (56.75) and Northern Star from Leeds (51.75, 6.2 penalties).


DCI 2007 World Championships logo revealed

Drum Corps International is pleased to debut the logo for the 2007 DCI World Championships, August 7-11 in Pasadena - California. This will be the first time in 35 years that the DCI World Championships will be held in California, a state with more actively participating drum corps than any other.


Independent survey about British drum corps future

German corps performs at rock and dance party

The night of Friday, May 12th, there was an annual student party at the University of Wilhelmshaven (northern Germany). Rock bands played on two stages the whole night. The show and drum band Blue Eagles from Lemwerder was invited to do a concert performance during this night between two performing groups.


DCE Competition Manual updated to version 6.1

The DCE Competition Manual has been upgraded from version 6.0 to version 6.1. The new manual is available as a PDF file and can be dowloaded free of charge from this website.


Southern Aurora withdrawn from DCUK competition

Southern Aurora from Brighton have withdrawn from competition for the foreseeable future. After a series of set backs in the past two months, it has become clear that the show that was written cannot be performed by the members.


DCUK 2006 schedule has been amended

The schedule for the Drum Corps United Kingdom 2006 season has been amended, from seven shows to five plus Finals. The first show of the season, due to be held at Grantham on June 4th, has been cancelled.


Kiwanis Kavaliers withdraw from 2006 DCI tour

The Kiwanis Kavaliers from Kitchener - Ontario have announced a decision to withdraw from the 2006 Drum Corps International summer tour. At their most recent quarterly evaluation of the organisation, it was agreed that the challenges surrounding the upcoming summer tour outweighed the corps beliefs, goals and values.


First winterguard performance ever in Italy

The color guard of the color guard of the Giuseppe Verdi Marching Showband from Lonate Ceppino - Italy have performed a winterguard show before an audience of 200 people. It was the very first winterguard show ever in Italy.

Lille to host 2006 'Best of Bands'

The Stadium Lille Metropole in Villeneuve d'Ascq in France will be the home for the 2006 Best of Bands festival. The event is scheduled for Sunday, June 25th, 2006. Although the Glassmen are unable to participate, music fans will have a unique opportunity to see many of the top groups in Europe perform at a high quality event.


DCG contest Witzenhausen won by Wölper Löwen

Last Saturday, Wölper Löwen Drum & Bugle Corps from Neustadt won the first Drum Corps Germany contest of the 2006 season in Witzenhausen. The corps scored 38,25 points, two points ahead of the Starriders from Bad Münder.


European drum corps season starts today

The European drum corps season will start today with an indoor contest in Witzenhausen - Germany. The contest is run by Drum Corps Germany and includes the German Individuals & Ensembles competition.


Discussion Group UK closed down

The Discussion Group United Kingdom (DGUK) has been closed down. The last few days, things got out of hand on the forums, with bullying attacks on individuals. The DGUK was open to everyone, without a registration procedure for users.


Cadets announce 2006 program

The Cadets have announced their 2006 program called 'Volume 2: Through the Looking Glass'. The show begins with the song 'History Repeating By the Propellerheads' sung by Cadets lead vocalist Amy Hernandez.


Black Knights equipment truck stolen

Saturday night, the equipment truck of the Black Knights Drum & Bugle Corps from Gravesend was stolen. The truck had the entire battery and some brass instruments on board. On Sunday, the truck was recovered and still driveable.


New DCE Competition Manual is ready

The DCE Competition Manual version 6.0 is ready for download. Besides a change in field set up, like announced last year, there are no major changes in the contest rules (compared to the previous version 5.1). The judging manual includes several changes though.


DCI: 'Make your Madison hotel reservations now'

Drum corps fans who haven't reserved a hotel room for the 2006 DCI World Championships yet, shouldn't wait too long to make a reservation. "Championship week in Madison is still 14 weeks away, but rooms are going faster than a Cavaliers geometric closing drill explosion", according to DCI.


First set of DCUK Archive DVDs released

Drum Corps United Kingdom has announced the release, for the first time, of DVDs from DCUK's history of Finals. The years 1984 to 1988 are now available to purchase from the website, with later years to follow in the future.
