The first day of the ticket sale for the DCE Championships 2006 has been very succesful. Already 200 tickets have been ordered in the DCE webshop. This is a record setting number for Drum Corps Europe.

For 2006 and beyond, the Juliana Drum & Bugle Corps hornline will use the AirMax Breather. The Breather is a device, intended to improve breathing for horn players, that offers different resistance levels in order to enlarge lung capacity and allow each performer to play better within the ensemble.

Forgemen inactive for 2006 season

As a result of the loss of performing members and staff, combined with the need to recruit and rebuild the corps, Forgemen from Sheffield will not take the competitive filed in either BYBA or DCUK this year.


Distant Thunder first UK corps with blog section

Due to demand from its members, Distant Thunder have set up a members blog to record marching members experiences during the 2006 season. Hot on the heels of some DCI corps, they are the first UK corps to launch a public blog on their internet website.


New domain for DCE: drumcorpseurope.org

Drum Corps Europe has activated a new domain name: drumcorpseurope.org. This will be the new starting point from where visitors of the DCE website can proceed to their own language (English, Dutch, German or French).


Details on 'Entertrainment Clinic' with Glassmen

Music City Mystique wins WGI World Class
23 Apr 2006

Music City Mystique has topped the WGI Independent Marching World Class during the WGI World Championships in Dayton - Ohio. The ensemble scored 96.20 in Finals. The silver medal went to Rhythm X, they scored 95.75.


2nd Annual Southern Preview in Bedfordshire

Allegiance Elite goes inactive for 2006

Allegiance Elite has decided not to participate in a DCI tour for 2006. With a new style of show, the corps will be doing a theatre-style show that will be performed indoors and out throughout Alberta.


Troopers return in 2007 to DCI

The Troopers have been preliminarily approved to rejoin the ranks of DCI in full Division I competition for the 2007 competitive season. Final approval is expected later this year when the full DCI board meets to vote on the matter.


New governance structure for DCI ahead

Fantasia and James Logan HS win WGI World Class

Fantasia won its fourth WGI World Class title (and the fourth in consecutive alternating years) and James Logan HS won its ninth consecutive title at the WGI World Championships Saturday night in the University of Dayton Arena.

The 42nd Annual Drum Corps Associates World Championships will take place over Labor Day weekend in Rochester - New York. On the recently launched Championships website, tickets can be ordered with Visa or Mastercard.


Standing ovations for Glassmen and Symphony

The Glassmen have joined with the symphony to play the finale of the 1812 Overture, and after a few run-throughs of the piece - deciding exactly where the bass drum 'canons' would do the least damage to the audience members ears - they were set for two sold-out concerts on Friday and Saturday night, March 24th and 25th.

Senators announce plans for 2006

Arrangements and briefings outlining the plans for the Senators during the summer of 2006 were finalised and communicated to the Senators Membership at a recent meeting. The corps will be particpating in DCUK and DCE, along with several other trips to mainland Europe.

This year, the DCE Championships will once again be held in the Sparta Rotterdam stadium. Both Drum Corps Europe and Sparta were happy with the way the event turned out in 2005 and have therefore decided to collaborate again.


Italian Millenium Band becomes drum & bugle corps

The Italian Millennium Marching Band from Verdello will be transformed to a drum & bugle corps. Next October, Millenium will become the very first drum & bugle corps of Italy. This has been confirmed by Assistent Director Cristian Barbarino to Drum Corps Europe.


Southwest Union and DIO enter DCE Championships

Southwest Union Drum & Bugle Corps and DIO Drum & Bugle Corps will enter the DCE Championships 2006. Due to internal situations, two corps had to cancel their registration. Southwest Union and DIO were on the waiting list, and they accepted the invitation from DCE to enter the Championships.

CGN Championships 'broadcasted' online

Color Guard Nederland will broadcast its Championships online. The event is to be held next Saturday, March 25th. The broadcast will feature report updates all day and still images updated every 15 seconds. Scores will be posted as soon as possible after each performance.
