DCUK announce 2007 season schedule

The DCUK management have confirmed the dates of the three summer spectacular competition events along with the date for the 2007 British Drum Corps Championships. The team gave special consideration to a number of specific areas including geographic location, target audiences, availability of dates (so as not to coincide with other marching band activity schedules) and of course to the drum and bugle corps own requirements in terms of diary planning both home and abroad.


Concord switch to mixed-key brass instruments

Concord Drum & Bugle Corps will be making the switch from 'G' to mixed-key brass instruments for the 2007 season. With an ever-increasing number of corps in the United States making the change, the cops is aware that eventually the supply of American-made 'G' bugles and spares will cease.


TEN changes name to DCEE

Stichting Top Evenementen Nederland (Netherlands Top Events Foundation) has changed its name. It is now called Drum Corps Events Europe (DCEE), as they feel that the name TEN no longer corresponds to their activities.


Kidsgrove Scouts nearly doubled in numbers

During the month of November the corps has made exceptional progress in all sections. The corps has increased in size and quality in all sections, the progress made at rehearsals has been extremely successful and very satisfying for everyone involved.

On the weekend of the 25th/26th November two members from Kidsgrove Scouts auditioned for two different DCI World Champion corps to be a part of their 2007 season.


'Cinema' section on DCE website now open

The previously announced 'Cinema' section is now open. Cinema features a list of recently online published drum corps movie clips. Most movies are playable directly from the Cinema page, some will play in a new window.


DCUK to change its administration of judging

Drum Corps United Kingdom are pleased to confirm that following the adoption of the DCE designed Competition Manual, DCUK is making another positive step on the road to embracing the future For the 2007 summer season DCUK has decided to plot a new course with regards to its approach and administration of the judging at DCUK certified events. To this end the partnership between DCUK and its long standing Judges Association is to be discontinued with immediate effect.


DCE and BYBA become strategic partners

37th Kingswood to compete at BYBA competitions

The 37th Kingswood Scouts Drum & Bugle Corps are pleased to announce their return to the British Youth Bands Association circuit as their main competing activity for 2007. As part of the corps development plans in 2006, they have been planning to return to BYBA for the 2007 season.


DCUK to adopt DCE Competition Manual for 2007

DCUK have announced that they will be adopting the DCE Competition manual for 2007. This decision was announced by DCUK after consultation with the management of DCE at the European Conference which took place in Brussels last weekend and clearly shows the Drum Corps United Kingdom's commitment to a unified Drum Corps activity throughout Europe.

Northern Star partner with Conn-Selmer

Northern Star Drum & Bugle Corps, from Leeds, England, have announced a new partnership with Conn-Selmer, Inc. of Elkhart - Indiana. The newly forged partnership will see Northern Star performing exclusively on King Ultimate Marching Brass, the newly-designed Ludwig marching percussion and an all-Musser mallet instrument Front Ensemble.

Cavaliers officially announce European tour

New class structure for DCUK competition

It is proposed that the drum corps competition in the UK will be catered for in three different competitive divisions. This will allow corps to self select a class that will work best with the corps' financial and structural resources and their own educational philosophy.

Distant Thunder announce 2007 'Wicked' show

Distant Thunders 2007 production is set in the Land of Oz during the years prior to Dorothy's arrival from Kansas. The show explores the idea that the infamous antagonist called the Wicked Witch of the West was misconstrued and victimised and that her alleged wickedness was merely retaliation against a charlatan wizards corrupt government.


The Magic will go inactive for 2007 season

After careful consideration of its financial and business position, the leadership of the Magic has decided that the corps will not tour in the 2007 season. "We have some revenue commitments that are, thus far, unfulfilled", said Bruce Ziegler, CEO of Magic Drum & Bugle Corps, Inc. "Sadly, this compromises our ability to participate in the 2007 tour."

The Pride brings triptych to WGI European Regional

Winterguard The Pride from Huizen - The Netherlands will be bringing a triptych (from the Greek tri - 'three' plus ptychē -'fold') to the winter guard floor in 2007 with their three competitive units. The triptych concept is 'Horen, Zien en Zwijgen' which is Dutch for the saying 'see no evil, hear no evil, talk no evil'.


East Coast Jazz goes inactive for 2007 season

East Coast Jazz director Tom Chopelas has announced that the Malden - Massachusetts based Youth in the Arts organisation will not field the East Coast Jazz in 2007. The announcement comes after experiencing struggling bingo revenue in recent years, the financial driving force behind the corps.
