DCUK to change its administration of judging

Drum Corps United Kingdom are pleased to confirm that following the adoption of the DCE designed Competition Manual, DCUK is making another positive step on the road to embracing the future For the 2007 summer season DCUK has decided to plot a new course with regards to its approach and administration of the judging at DCUK certified events. To this end the partnership between DCUK and its long standing Judges Association is to be discontinued with immediate effect.
 
This move is in no way a slight on the incumbent Judges Association but rather a move by the new management team of DCUK to break new ground in its quest to shake off the past and embrace new ideas and philosophies.
 
Chris Jones remarked, "This move makes perfect sense considering our decision to use the DCE Competition Manual in 2007.  It quickly became clear to the new DCUK management team that achieving a more robust and transparent judging accreditation process was a priority for us, and I hope the decision to work with Adriaan De Kruiff (DCE Judging Committee) and adopt this new system for 2007 clearly demonstrates this."
 
"It was felt that now, in the spirit of our new identity, that we embrace these changes and reinvention of the judging processes." Joe Fitzpatrick continues, "The DCE Competition Manual contains a judging system that encompasses what we are trying to achieve with regards to standardising our activity across Europe."
 
A number of people have been approached with regards to the vacant position of Independent Judges Co-ordinator to head up the new DCUK Judges Committee and DCUK should be in a position to confirm an appointment in the very near future. The successful candidate will take a position on the DCUK Management Team and be responsible for all judging matters including overseeing the implementation of the new judging system, facilitating the necessary training and taking responsibility for judging allocations at DCUK certified events, they will also be the point of interaction with our European partners on all judging related matters.
 
DCUK would like to thank the officers and judges both past and present for their hard work and dedication to Drum Corps United Kingdom. DCUK truly appreciates their efforts and service they have provided over many years.
 
The British drum corps organisation sincerely hopes that all judges will understand and embrace this need for change and will continue to offer their services to DCUK in the future, albeit under a remodelled management and administration structure.
