DCUK announces registered corps so far

Drum Corps United Kingdom has announced details of the corps that have registered so far for the 2011 season. Up till now fifteen corps have registered in Open Class and Junior Class.


Concord 2011: Volo di Fantasia

Concord has announced that as a follow-up to their very successful 2010 'Imaginarium' show, 'Volo di Fantasia' (pronounced 'fan-tass-ee-a') will be the 2011 theatre show.


2011 Northern Preview in Sheffield

Concord Youth Music of Sheffield have announced that they will be hosting the 2011 Northern Preview event in their home city. The show offers the opportunity to view the pre-season performances of some of the UK's finest drum corps and marching bands in a stress-free, non-competitive environment.


IPE is moving Belgian contest

Indoor Percussion Europe is moving a contest from Estaimpuis to Tournai. The contest will now be held in the same arena as the IPE European Championships.


2011 Off to a flying start WGUK in Bristol

Entertainment is not yet scored in DCI

For the time being, there will be no scores for 'entertainment' in the judging system of Drum Corps International. The proposal will be investigated further before a decision is made. Two other proposals have been accepted at the DCI's annual meeting.


Besana 2011: '25°N: Kingdom of Sand'

IPE holding European Symposium

The Co percussion players at 'Dancing on Ice'

Twelve percussion members performed in the Grand Opening of 'Dancing on Ice 2011' on ITV 1 last Sunday evening. It was not their first TV appearance. Last year, the percussin players also supported singer star and TV 'Strictly Come Dancing' judge Alesha Dixon at 'This Morning' on ITV and also at the 'Help for Heroes' event featured live on BBC 1.

Heartliner plans to return in 2012

The Heartliner from Ludwigshafen - Germany plan to make a comeback in 2012. The corps has reported this on its website. Preparations for a return to the drum corps competition have already started.

DCN is getting rid of the A-Class

Drum Corps Netherlands bids farewell to the A-Class. Starting from next season, corps can participate in the Premier Class, Percussion Class or Junior Class. An exhibition show is still possible for new or rebuilding corps.


Fire at Kidsgrove Scouts headquarters

WGI rejects Beatrix guard soundtrack

Winter Guard International has rejected the soundtrack for the new show by Beatrix from Hilversum - The Netherlands. Due to copyright issues, the soundtrack they submitted can't be used in the WGI competition.


Changes in DCA scoring system

For the first time, Drum Corps Associates will be judging corps utilizing 50/50 sheets. 50 percent will be split equally between music and visual effect. Brass, percussion, ensemble music, ensemble visual, and color guard captions will each receive 10 percent.

Nexus and Encore partner to launch junior corps

The Nexus organisation and Encore Drum & Bugle Corps have formed a partnership to launch a new junior drum corps unit to be based in Sandy, Bedfordshire. The launch sees the Encore name return to youth marching music activity for the first time since 2003.


MMF organises first DCE Certified Show in France
