We have reached the half-way stage in the Drum Corps Europe 2011 contest season. It was quite a challenge to provide panels at all of these contests, especially due to last minute changes because of sickness and work commitments. An update by DCE Adjudication Manager Douglas Caldwell.
Jubal Drum & Bugle Corps from Dordrecht saw its scores shoot up on Saturday in Atlanta compared to the contest in Gadsden - Alabama two days earlier. The corps increased its score by nearly seven points: from 64.90 to 71.80 points.

Jubal has entered two Drum Corps International this week, and participates in the International Class (which has the same judging system as the Open Class). The first scores are in for the Dutch.
Jubal Drum & Bugle Corps from Dordrecht - The Netherlands is currently preparing for its first performance in the 2011 Drum Corps International competition. The first contest in which Jubal will perform is in Ocean Springs - Mississippi and is on today.
This weekend, Drum Corps Europe will hold a clinic in Indonesia. The clinic, which will take place in Bandung, Indonesia, is aimed at marching band instructors. The possible future use of the DCE Competition Manual for the national competition will also be discussed.

At about 11:00 PM the equipment truck of the Cascades Dreum & Bugle Corps was rear ended while traveling from Denton to San Antonio - Texas. The accident happened while passing through construction in Waco - Texas.

On Sunday 17th July 2011, Cheshire Cadets Drum & Bugle Corps performed in exhibition for the very last time at DCUK Warrington. The corps will move on as The Horizon Corps.

For the last two years, as part of the judges pre-briefing event to a DCE certified contest, a Parlour Session is held where a judge will research a relevant topic and lead a discussion. Instructors and designers are welcome to attend this part of the briefing.

The DCE Judges College for 2011 takes place this weekend. "Judges and trainees are traveling from Netherlands, United Kingdom, Ireland, Germany, Belgium and Italy to participate in the training event", says DCE Adjudication manager Douglas Caldwell. The first session commences on Friday 20th May at 21.00h and closes on Sunday 22nd May.

The first edition of the online Drum Corps World has been published and can be read free of charge. The online magazine includes over 100 pages.
The Cadets will participate in the Drum Corps Associates competition. It is not the current drum & bugle corps, but a newly formed group called Cadets2 that will be performing.
