Madison: "Add entertainment to Effect caption"
The Madison Scouts have submitted a proposal for the yearly DCI meeting on January 20th-23rd. The proposal is about adding 'entertainment' to the Effect caption.
Artistic Director James Mason of the Madiosn Scouts has proposed that the 40 points of a corps' General Effect score should be restructured to award 15 points to Music Effect, 15 points to Visual Effect and 10 points to Entertainment Effect.
In his proposal, Mason wrote, "An Entertainment Effect caption will recognize a corps' ability to communicate with the audience. By setting up this specific caption this proposal gives more than lip service to the relevance of our audience by actually designating an adjudicator(s) sheet(s) and assigning numbers that give an importance to the competitive outcome. It rewards competing groups that communicate entertainment values to the audience."
Madison's proposal was one of the three submitted proposals in total. The Bluecoats submitted one for remote soundboard control, and 7th Regiment and the Boston Crusaders would like to see vocal categories being added to the Individuals & Ensembles competition.
