The Dagenham Crusaders get on the road again with the help of Andrew Palmer, a former member and current lead baritone player of the Dagenham Crusaders Alumni Corps.
The clinic competition of InCorps has attracted huge interest. Over 50 emails from 20 units all over Europe have been sent for the clinic competition so far. Members of these units replied by mail for a chance to win an exclusive percussion clinic with three top percussion clinicians for a full day free of charge.
Saturday, Jubal from Dordrecht won the Open Class at the Drum Corps Netherlands contest in Goes. The corps scored 66.6 points. Juliana came in second with a score of 55.8.

Today, the European drum corps season will start in Goes - The Netherlands. Eight Dutch corps will enter the Drum Corps Netherlands competition in the Open Class, Cadet Class, A-Class and Percussion Class.
The Blue Saints Drum & Bugle Corps will return to the DCI competition. Drum Corps International approved the return of the Canadian corps last Friday.
Junt Minalai, a staff member from Thailand travelled to Europe earlier this month to join the DCE Judges College in Dadizele - Belgium. He wants to use his knowledge about the DCE judging system to develop the drum corps and marching band activity in his own country.

On Saturday 19th September 2009 Drum Corps United Kingdom will hold its 30th consecutive British Drum Corps Championships. In competition will be 12 Open Class corps and 5 junior corps plus at least 3 alumni corps (Lancers, Dagenham Crusdaders and Crawley Vanguard).
The Cadets have announced their show 'West Side Story: Celebration and Conflict', featuring the music of Leonard Bernstein, and arrangements by Jay Bocook. The corps returns to the field this summer as the Holy Name Cadets.
With the 2009 summer season fast approaching Drum Corps United Kingdom will be closing registrations for their 30th Anniversary Championships on Friday 5th June.
The Inbhear Mor Marchers from Arklow - Ireland will embark on a 12 day tour of the USA and Canada in August. The Inbhear Mór Marchers were originally established in 1992 in the southeast coastal town of Arklow, County Wicklow. The band made their first competitive appearance in 1994.
DCE held its annual Judges College in Dadizele - Belgium last weekend. The judges in attendance went over the basic principles of judging as well as specfic caption sessions.
In line with rules, BYBA is required to announce the number of units that will be eligible for the 2009 Championships. The 2008 Rules Congress clearly gave the Performance Portfolio the mandate to ensure that BYBA's uniqueness remained through the leagues, ensuring there will be strong competition right through into September.
The sale of tickets for the DCE Championships 2009 started on May 1st at midnight. Within a few hours all 500 tickets in the middle section of the stand were sold out. There are still good seats available.

The Blue Lions will host the 'Blue Days' in the Roger Salengro Hall from Wattrelos on 9th and 10th May. The event will include an open master class for musicians and color guard, a clinic and a Blue Days after party. Gary Juarez (Blue Devils - USA), Sylvia Vos (The Pride - The Netherlands) and Joe Rodwell (Black Knights/37th Kingswood - UK) will be the clinicians.
Musicians from all over Crawley are getting together to celebrate 30 years of marching and music excellence in Crawley. Members of all marching bands and drum corps from the past 30 years are getting together to form one massed corps.

On 15th March 2009, seven members of Kidsgrove Scouts' drum line completed the Stafford Half Marathon to raise funds for the corps. The runners were Stuart Hancock, Steve Hunt, James Moore, Hayden Burns, Richard Boughtflower, Jamie Clare and Paul Lowton.
The transition from the winter circuit to the summer field has now taken place with the 37th completing their first drill camp in preparation for the summer season. When you look at the corps taking to the field this year, you will notice a much younger look within the membership in all sections.

DCUK is pleased to announce that the DCUK Email Newsletter service has been set up, which is a free subscription based facility and will be used to advise of events, scores and news from all that is drum corps in the UK.

Following the nomination process, that took place in the weeks leading up to the 2009 WGUK Championships, the elections to the Winterguard United Kingdom Board took place during the day at The Brentwood Centre on Saturday 4th April.
DCE held a judges training session in Ireland this past weekend. DCE Director of Education Bob Thomas was very pleased with the turn out and participation of all the attendees.
Senior members of Northern Academy are currently in Chicago to meet close friends Michael Gaines, Andy Toth and Tommy Allen to go through some final details surrounding their plans to compete in the 2010 WGI Championships. The full details of the trip will be released very shortly, including which Class Northern Academy will be competing in.

The drum corps activity was well represented at the WGI World Championships in Dayton, Ohio this past weekend as the Santa Clara Vanguard Winter Guard completed an undefeated season to win its first World Championship title. The Vanguard won the Independent World division with a score of 97.100, besting its fellow California competitor Corona Winter Guard by more than a point.
Drum Corps Europe is the organisation in Europe that has a qualified team of drum corps judges for Drum Corps Netherlands, Drum Corps United Kingdom and the DCE European Championships. DCE is looking for more judges to expand the current team.
Percussion Unlimited, Göteborg and Shooting Stars are the new champions of Indoor Percussion Europe. Yesterday the indoor percussion association held its second championships in Roeselare - Belgium.
Today the 30th edition of the WGUK Championships will take place in Brentwood-Essex. 80% of the tickets have been sold already, but there are still tickets available at the door.

6th Hove Scouts from Hove - UK have announced their 2009 show production. The corps will be performing 'Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleetstreet'.
With only one week to go before the 30th British Winterguard Championships the WGUK Box Office has reported that 75% of the seats in the main stand have now been sold.
18 corps have registered for the Drum Corps Netherlands competition so far. The line-up includes a new corps and two corps returning to the competition after several years.
Visitors at the Indoor Percussion Championships will be able to attend an additional event: a masterclass run by the American indoor drumline NorthCoast Academy, entitled 'The Visual Buzz'. Everyone who has an admission ticket for the IPE Championships will have free access to the masterclass.

Arena Drum Corps will be starting this fall on the East Coast of the United States and has been received to so far a few organisations who hold an interest in being a part of this new circuit. The new website is now online and hold the preliminary information as to the cause of this organisation.
In 2010 The Kidsgrove Scouts Organisation will celebrate 100 years in existence. In order to release the detailed plans that are already underway for 2009 and 2010 the corps has developed a new website with a new address, www.kidsgrovescouts.com.

The Blue Devils are saddened by the passing of Antonio (Tony) Odello Sr. on March 17th. Tony was 89 years of age. Tony and his wife Ann were the founders of The Blue Devils in 1957.
