DCE tickets for sale at Roda JC Stadium

Tickets for the DCE European Championships are now for sale at Roda JC. In the fan store of the Parkstad Limburg Stadion, tickets can be picked up and paid for directly. It's first time that DCE has a regional venue for the presale.


Robert Beckett drum major of The Company

The Company Performance Ensemble has announced that Robert Beckett will be Drum Major for The Company in in their inaugural season, leading the ensemble in the competitions of DCUK, BYBA and DCE.


All electronics and instruments allowed

Drum Corps Europe and its Certified Partners will give corps free rein for the use of electronics. From next season all electronics and instruments will be allowed at DCE Certified Shows.

BYBA launches new website

DCE reveals new logo

Drum Corps Europe has introduced a new logo. The well-known three letters have received a full makeover to mark the 10th anniversary of DCE. The new logo was designed by artist Peter Franken.


DCE Certified Show in Italy

This year, Italy will have a Certified DCE Show. The large show event on 4th July in San Felice Sul Panaro will be judged by the DCE panel, based on the DCE Competition Manual. This brings the number of countries with Certified Shows to five.


Kidsgrove Scouts partner with Premier

To celebrate the Centenary of the reigning DCUK champions Kidsgrove Scouts, Premier has provided a full set of custom Revolution Series marching drums to the corps in a specially commissioned, unique lacquer finish called 'Century Sparkle Fade'.


Cadence 2010 programme: 'Dreams Work'

Cadence Drum & Bugle Corps has announced the 2010 show. The programme is entitled 'Dreams Work'. The 1999 DCUK Open Class champions have been on a steady rebuilding schedule since the corps became inactive in 2005. After becoming BYBA Junior Class Champions in 2009 the corps has made the move up into BYBA Division 3 for 2010.


WBC becomes Licensed Partner of DCE

Drum Corps Europe is expanding its borders. DCE is introducing 'Licensed Partnerships' for organisations outside of Europe wanting to use the DCE Competition Manual. The World Band Competition from Malaysia will become the first non-European partner.


Jubal wins season opener in Middelburg

Jubal Drum & Bugle Corps from Dordrecht won the European season opener in Middelburg on Saturday. Juliana was a close second. A much improved Johan Friso claimed the victory in the Junior Class.


New and re-emerging corps approved for DCI tour

The Open Class Advisory Committee met during the first week of May for a final evaluation and review of new and re-emerging drum corps throughout the country. Following the evaluation, six Open Class corps have been approved for participation in the 2010 Drum Corps International tour.


DCI corps divided on future direction

A philosophical division over the future direction and long-term sustainability of Drum Corps International has developed within the leadership of the organisation's member corps. Belgian educational project South-Africa launched

"We are convinced of the complementary character of the Vlamo support to the Field Band Foundation", say Maarten Deschacht and Bart Tienpont at their arrival. This is also the main conclusion of the FBF after launching a Vlamo course about show design and percussion at the recently founded FBF Field Band Academy in Eshowe, Durban, South Africa.


Belgians join the Kidsgrove Scouts

Sem Vanhessche and Maarten Descamps are joining the Kidsgrove Scouts this year. It is the first time that Belgians have joined an English drum & bugle corps. Reports of their experiences are published on Facebook and their website about the UK adventure.


Drumline film gets theatre release

The film 'Drumline' will soon have a theatre show called 'Drumline Live'. The theatre production will be touring Japan, South Korea and the United States later this year and all through next year.


The Devils enter DCE Championships

The Devils from Witzenhausen will participate in the DCE European Championships in Kerkrade this year. A spot freed up because the Senators have announced that they will not be competing this year.


The Pride submits proposals to WGI

Winter Guard The Pride from Huizen has submitted a number of proposals to amend the Winter Guard International rules. If the proposals are adopted, significant changes will be made in WGI, also for European units.

The Parkstad Limburg Stadion is already filling up for the DCE European Championships. There is still a rush on tickets in the pre-sale for the European Championships. After section A, the B sections are now almost sold out as well. So if you want a seat, don't wait too long to book one.


Xylosynths for Carolina Crown

Carolina Crown will start using a new instrument this year: the xylosynth. The xylosynth is an electronic instrument that can be used as a sylophone, marimba or vibraphone but has a lot of other features. The Dutch junior corps Jong Jubal announced earlier that they also will be using the xylosynth from this year.


Do you want to become a DCE certified judge?

This year, besides the DCE championships, the judges of Drum Corps Europe will also judge a lot of other competitions. Altogether, the competitions of DCN, DCUK, IMBA, German Open, IPE and DCE keep the DCE judging panel busy for many days. The judging panel is growing every year, but DCE is still looking for more judges.


DCE section A sold out within 30 minutes

Drum Corps Europe had expected a run on tickets to the 2010 DCE European Championships, but even those expectations were exceeded. All 500 tickets for the centre section (section A) sold out within 30 minutes of the start of the tickets going on sale. The adjacent sections are filling up rapidly as well.


Knights Alumni off outside

The Knights Alumni Drum & Bugle Corps have now completed their indoor rehearsals and from Sunday 9th May will be moving outside to Stanmer Park in Brighton. The corps will be performing at the DCUK and DCE Championships this year.

The ticket sale for the DCE European Championships has started! For just 15 euros you can get a ticket for the main stand. If you want a seat near to the 50 yard line, order your tickets as soon as possible! There will undoubtly a run on section A and section B tickets again.


New drums for Showband Marum

Beatrix' winter guard plans WGI trip for 2011

Beatrix' winter guard has unvealed their plans for a new USA tour. The group will strive to participate in the Winter Guard International Championships of 2011. About two years ago, Beatrix' winter guard announced the very same news for the 2009 season. That year, for the first time in Beatrix' history, the group was to take part in the WGI Championships.


BYBA Championships move venue

The British Youth Band Association (BYBA) has announced that the 2010 BYBA National Championships will be held at Crewe Alexandra Stadium in Crewe - Cheshire. The stadium is the home of Coca Cola Football League Two Team, Crewe Alexandra Football Club.

DrumSpirit is stranded in the USA

DrumSpirit from Dadizele - Belgium will not be flying back from America to Belgium today. Due to the ash cloud from the Icelandic volcano eruption on Wednesday, air traffic has been halted throughout most of Europe. DrumSpirit say they expect to be stranded in America for another week.


DrumSpirit placed sixth in WGI A-Class Finals

DrumSpirit Percussion Ensemble from Dadizele placed sixth last night in the Independent Marching A Class at theWinter Guard International World Championships. The percussion unit were the first European group to compete in the WGI Percussion Championships.


Drum corps history book available for limited time

Five years after the initial 2002 printing of A History of Drum & Bugle Corps, volume 1 sold out, copies will once again be available for a limited time. The 432-page book was originally published in June 2002.


DCE Judges College was 'best college to date'

The annual Judges College took place in Bromley, England (home of the Pacemakers Drum & Bugle Corps) last weekend and "was the best college to date", commented Douglas Caldwell, DCE's Adjudication Manager. Over 20 judges attended the event including a few trainees.

IPE Champions: Vintage, SA and New Generation

Vintage , Southern Aurora and New Generation are the new European indoor percussion champions. Last Sunday they topped the International Marching Percussion Class, European Marching Percussion Class and the Concert Class at the IPE European Championships.
