DCI interviews DCE Chairman
The developments in Europe are attracting increasing attention from people outside Europe. Drum Corps International conducted an extended interview with DCE Chairman Marcel Matthijsse and published the interview on www.dci.org.
In the interview Matthijsse describes how the European drum corps competition works compared to the American system. In recent years much has changed with the introduction of the Certified Partners, which has resulted in the use of a jury manual and a single judging panel across Europe.
In the interview, DCI's Darcy Wallace also enquires about the Licensed Partnerships which have recently been introduced by DCE. This enables organisations outside Europe to use the European judging system, and allows local jury members to be trained and become 'DCE certified judges'. The World Band Competition in Malaysia has signed up as the first Licensed Partner.
