Jubal wins season opener in Middelburg
Jubal Drum & Bugle Corps from Dordrecht won the European season opener in Middelburg on Saturday. Juliana was a close second. A much improved Johan Friso claimed the victory in the Junior Class. Jubal came to Middelburg to claim first place in the Premier Class. The Effect captions as well as Field Percussion, Colour Guard and Ensemble Visual went to the corps from Dordrecht, but Juliana put in a better performance in the Field Brass, Ensemble Music and Field Visual captions. Overall, Jubal scored highest on Effect, Music and Visual.
Juliana scored 60.25 points, over three and a half points below the corps from Dordrecht, who scored 63.85. Jong-Holland came third with 49.05 points, but really got the audience going with their uplifting music.
In the Junior Class, the scores from last year were greatly improved. Johan Friso won all captions and scored 63.55 points. Confetti was second with a score of 53.75. In the Percussion Class, David Harpe, the only participant, scored 52.5.
The next DCN contest will take place on Saturday 26th June in Huizen. 18 corps will enter this contest of Drum Corps Netherlands.
