Mosson kicks off DCE Championships

Mosson Drum & Bugle Corps will kick off the DCE European Championships this year. The Italian corps will appear at exactly 10am as the first participant at the start of the Premier Class Prelims. The European Championships will take place this Saturday in Kerkrade - The Netherlands.

Kidsgrove Scouts and Beeches DCUK Champions

The Kidsgrove Scouts extended their British title in Mansfield Saturday. In a truly thrilling battle with rival The Company, Kidsgrove won the Open Class with a score of 84.15.

DCUK Championships this Saturday

The British drum corps championships will be held in Mansfield this Saturday. Sixteen corps will enter the competition arena of the Mansfield Town Football Club Stadium. The event will start at 11.00 am.

Starriders prolong German title

The Starriders have prolonged their national title. The German powerhouse won the Premier Class of the German Open at the Wserbergland Stadium in Hameln on Saturday. Showband Rastede came second.

Customs searches DCE voice recorders for drugs

The voice recorders of the DCE judging team did not get through customs without a hitch on Saturday. On their journey from Britain to Germany, the recorders were searched for drugs thoroughly by customs staff Birmingham airport.

Bushwackers need financial help

A creditor has filed a lawsuit and received a judgment against the Bushwackers and has levied against the bank account. The corps is in jeopardy of losing their equipment if they don't raise the balance of the debt of approximately $12,000 in the next 10-14 days.


Kidsgrove tops DCUK show in both classes

The Kidsgrove Scouts topped both the Open and Junior Class at the DCUK show in Biggleswade last Sunday. In the Open Class (Premier Class) the corps was the first corps in the European Music Games to pass the 80 points this season.


Dutch titles for Juliana and Jong Jubal

Juliana from Middelburg and Jong Jubal from Dordrecht successfully defended their Dutch titles on Saturday. In the DCN Finals, the corps won the Premier and Junior Class respectively, just like last year. Many spectators enjoyed wonderful shows and an exciting fight for the title in Dordrecht.


Tallaght YB and Ravens are Irish champions

The Tallaght Youth Band Marching Vikings and Ravens Marching Showband have been crowned Irish champions in the Premier Class and Junior Class respectively. The scores are considerably higher than at last year's championships.


European Crossmen alumni reunion at DCE

During the DCE Championships in Kerkrade - The Netherlands, a reunion for European Crossmen alumni will be held in front of the Parkstad Limburg Stadium. Nicolai Esposito has taken the initiative for the reunion, and calls all European Crossmen alumni to come to Kerkrade.


Kidsgrove achieve 7th place in DCA Championships

Congratulations to the Kidsgrove Scouts on achieving 7th Place at the Drum Corps Associates (DCA) World Championships in Annapolis - Maryland, USA this past week only missing 6th place by less than two tenths of a point and placing 3rd in the Colour Guard caption.

Ravens top European Junior Class score board

Ravens Marching Showband are currently topping the European Junior Class score board. The Irish youth corps attained a score of 70.05 on Sunday at the DCE certified contest in Arklow, sanctioned by the Irish Marching Band Association.


Section C sold out for DCE Championships

After the Super Seats and sections A and B, section C has now been sold out. Those who want to get good seats for the event are advised to order them online now. The longer you wait, the further your seat will be from the '50 yard'.


Kidsgrove takes High Brass and Guard at DCA show

The Kidsgrove Scouts have taken the Brass and Color Guard caption at the Drum Corps Associates contest in Pennsauken yesterday. With a score of 88.15, the corps placed only 1.45 points behind Cadets2 and came second.

The Kidsgrove Scouts had a succesful start in the competition of Drum Corps Associates yesterday. The British corps scored 87.05 and ended in second place. The corps became first in the Brass caption.

The Kidsgrove Scouts have started their USA tour. In the weeks to come, the reigning British drum champions will participate in the Drum Corps Associates competition, including the DCA Championships.


DCE to follow French contest on Twitter

Drum Corps Europe will follow Saturday's contest in the French town of Quiberon on Twitter. Through DCE's English Twitter Channel, they will provide updates using text, pictures and video. Among other corps, Beatrix Drum & Bugle Corps will be participating in the contest.


No summer break for European Music Games

For the first time, there is no real summer break in the European drum corps competition. Last Saturday there was a contest in Ireland, and next Saturday is the next contest of the European Music Games in the French town of Quiberon.


Beatrix to stream its own live performances

Beatrix Drum & Bugle Corps from Hilversum will be broadcasting a number of its own performances and warm ups live over the internet. The first live broadcast will be the warm up prior to the contest of Marching Music France on Saturday 18th August in Quiberon - France.


Marching Vikings make it two in a row

The second show of the IMBA 2012 season took place in Ballygar, Galway on Sunday 5th August where the victory was taken by the Tallaght Youth Band Marching Vikings. The Dublin corps obtained a score of 57.65 points.


Blue Devils undefeated on way to 15th DCI title

Blue Devils completed an undefeated season Saturday, winning their 15th Drum Corps International World Championship, their fourth in the last six years. With a final score of 98.70, the California corps also took home hardware from Lucas Oil Stadium for caption awards in Visual Performance, General Effect, Percussion and Color Guard.


Crossmen will return to Finals

In the only shakeup in Semi Finals competition yesterday, Crossmen (84.90, 12th) passed up Blue Stars (84.60, 13th) for the first time in the 2012 season, claiming the last coveted spot in the Finals.


Oregon Crusaders win DCI Open Class title

The West Coast showed up in full force Tuesday, as Oregon Crusaders (1st, 95.25), Blue Devils B (2nd, 93.85) and Vanguard Cadets (3rd, 93.80) swept the top three spots at the 2012 Open Class World Championship Finals.

Fred J. Miller passes away

WGI mourns the passing of Fred J. Miller, a master showman of the pageantry arts and integral force of the indoor color guard and percussion activity. A resident of Centerville, Ohio, he was born on March 6, 1932, the son of Orville and Betty Miller. He passed away yesterday at the age of 80.


New DCE website in the making

Drum Corps Europe is working on a new website. Not just the layout is undergoing a transformation, but the 'back end' will also be revised entirely. One of the changes is that the visitors will find lots of information, both about DCE itself and about the European Music Games.


Record set at DCI Southeastern Championship

In a day that saw seven new Olympic records set in London, Drum Corps International set its own record in the former Olympic city of Atlanta, with 16,114 paid patrons witnessing the Blue Devils (93.15) take first place at the DCI Southeastern Championship last Saturday.

The Cadets2 in fourth place at DCA

The Cadets2, the youngest corps of the Youth Education in the Arts, has made its debut in the Drum Corps Associates competition. The corps came fourth at the DCA contest in Clifton on Sunday.

Before a very large and supportive audience, The Reading Buccaneers continued their early season dominance of their opponents while sweeping all captions en route to another victory. The power and excellence displayed by the Bucs this early in the season is leaving all of those who see them saying "WOW!"
