In 2005, Cadence Drum and Bugle Corps will be performing a programme entitled 'Artistic Impressions' where they will be exploring three different types of artistic styles. Each 'exhibit' will have its own identity where we will portray examples of works within each particular style of Art.

For the first time in history there is a drum & bugle corps in Jackson, Mississippi. The international drum corps community has benefited from the talent of the Mississippi area's brass, percussion and visual performers for many years. These veterans of the drum corps experience can now join others in Mississippi's own, the Jackson Generals Drum & Bugle Corps.

Drum Corps International will return to Madison - Wisconsin in 2006. DCI executive director Dan Acheson confirmed the venue in an interview with Steve Vickers, publisher of Drum Corps World. For 2007 or 2008, California will be an option for the world championships.

Embarking on the greatest musical journey in their history, the 2005 Seattle Cascades will present a full 135 member corps performing an Airborne Symphony. Showkorps WIK from Ostend has topped the show contest of the Flemish music organization Vlamo in Wevelgem - Belgium yesterday. The corps scored 90.3%. At the same moment, another Vlamo contest was run in Aartselaar - Belgium. Kameleon Percussie took top honors there with a score of 90%.

Drum Corps International has experienced three years of solid growth in attendance, according to a study undertaken by DCI national show promotions coordinator Sue Kuehnhold. This year, DCI contracted events continued the trend with an 8.1 percent increase.

Capital Regiment has announced its show for 2005, called 'Chiaroscuro!'. In the visual arts, chiaroscuro refers to a technique that contrasts bright illumination with areas of dense shadow. The term is derived from the Italian words chiaro that means light and oscuro that means dark.

Drum Corps International has added Lisle - Illinois, a Western suburb of Chicago, to this year's calendar, replacing DeKalb - Illionois. While DeKalb certainly is a great location for drum corps events, Lisle will prove to accommodate Chicago-area drum corps fans who might not make the long trek to DeKalb on a Sunday night.

The Senators have won the DCUK Open Class Finals and can add another Open Class title to their list. The DCUK Championships were held last Sunday in Mansfield. Phoenix Coventry won the A-Class, Senators Juniors took the Junior Class title the and Black Knights Cadets won the Cadet Class.

The Bridgemen Alumni Drum & Bugle Corps has formally launched last Saturday, and Executive Director George Lavelle proudly announced the staff for the 2005 season. Mr. Randy Nelson won't be able to come to The Hague this weekend. Randy is from the Panhandle of Florida and they just recently got hit with Hurricane Ivan. He had to leave his home with mandatory evacuation last week and had to go North to get out of the way of the storm.

It looks like a lot of drum corps fans will travel to The Hague next Saturday. Over 1200 tickets have already been ordered. Presale of tickets for the DCE Championships ended Saturday. About 600 tickets will be available at the stadium ticket box.
