The Pride submits proposals to WGI
Winter Guard The Pride from Huizen has submitted a number of proposals to amend the Winter Guard International rules. If the proposals are adopted, significant changes will be made in WGI, also for European units.
The Pride believes it would be fairer if the seedings of the WGI Championship Prelims were not primarily determined by the scores from the last two Regionals. In the current situation, European guards are at a disadvantage because the European Regional always takes place early in the season. The Pride recommends that scores during early Regionals are raised 'artificially' more than they are at present (adding 2 points per week rather than half a point per week). This way, European guards are more likely to get a good starting position in the WGI Prelims.
The most notable proposal comes from the current World Champions, Onyx. They request that any rules for the World Class are dropped. The idea behind the proposal is to encourage more creativity which is not possible under the current rules.
A total of 35 guards submitted proposals which will be assessed in Orlando on 21st May. In the weekend of 9 and 10 July, the WGI Board will make the final decisions.
