DCI ESPN2 Network broadcast sets precedent
The broadcast of the 2005 DCI World Championships on ESPN2 (last Tuesday) was the first time the program has ran on prime time commercial network television. In past years it has only appeared on select public television stations. The two-hour ESPN2 broadcast focused on behind the scenes interviews and features, and presented only short highlight clips of the performing corps.
This placement affords DCI access to 80 million potential households throughout the U.S. Reaction to the telecast by DCP regulars has been generally postive. At press time 68.3% of the poll on Drum Corps Planet (non-scientific) respondents rate the program average, above average or excellent.
The program will be replayed September 20th and September 23rd. (Text: drumcorpslanet.com)
