DCI.org to extend audio download program
Although all the details and a timetable for rollout of the program are not finalized, there will be a time very soon when one will be able to subscribe to a special access section of DCI.org and be able to stream the DCI audio archives to their computer. One will also be able to purchase individual titles for permanent download to their system through this program as well.
Drum corps gans will have access anytime they want to listen to the available archives of 27th Lancers, Bridgemen, Star of Indiana, Blue Devils, etcetera on their computer and also have the ability to purchase single corps downloads.
"For now, the finalists from 1972-2004 will be available", DCI merchandising manager Ric Oberlin said. "We envision a time when all of our archives can be transferred into this format, probably beginning with the 13-21(24)th placing corps from the 90s and 2000s."
"One of the problems with this project is marshalling and determining what materials are available for conversion. This will be an ongoing process surely, but the goal will be be to put everything we have into this archive for the dual purposes of creating the most accurate and comprehensive archive of the activity, as well as providing that archive to the fans for their enjoyment."
More details will follow on www.dci.org. (Source: drumcorpsplanet.com, Stephanie Louden)
