Small Drum Corps Associations continues to grow
The Small Drum Corps Association (SDCA) is leaping ahead. What was supposed to be a drum corps circuit designed to provide a venue suited for a few smaller drum corps in the Northern Illinois and Southern Wisconsin area has surprisingly developed into a way to fulfill a need that has existed for many years.
Following SDCA's first succesful Midwest season, the organisation doubled in terms of participating groups during the following year, and currently there are nearly 40 corps involved. Smaller drum corps throughout the US and Canada continue to look to the SDCA to expand into their regions.
Earlier this year, SDCA opened the Souther California region, possibly including the Sacramento Freelancers, Velvet Knights juniors and alumni, City Sound, Blue Phoenix, Anaheim Kingsmen, SoCal Dream, and Impulse. The organisation has also opened the Eastern/Midwest region. A Texas region is also being considered.
