BYBA National Championships move venue

Publish Date: 24 Aug 2011 - 782 views

The British Youth Band Association has announced that the National Championships will move venue for the 2011 season. While their 2010 Championships in Crewe was a success in terms of continuation due to the extreme weather conditions, it also proved that the smaller stand created a fantastic atmosphere.

One other reason for moving in 2011 was the current financial climate and ensuring that both the event could sustain itself financially and that supporters ticket prices could be brought to a more affordable basis. After investigating several possible venues that would be able to give all the facilities they need to run the Championships, as well as give an opportunity to make the event sustainable at a venue for future years, BYBA has announced that the 2011 BYBA National Championships will now be held at Keys Park Stadium, Keys Park Road, Cannock - Staffordshire.

Keys Park Stadium is the home of Hednesford Town Football Club. Located just 7 miles from the M6 and boasts a fully enclosed Pitch Arena, with a main Stand that holds approx 1,000 seated. The main stand has an excellent viewing angle as well as being more compact for the supporters. Both the market stall and bar areas have a full glass wall so that performances can be seen whilst inside.

BYBA Performance Chair, Jay Howard said: "Keys Park is an excellent venue for our National Championships. As well as being more centralised within the country, it has all the charms The Alexandra Stadium provided, including the atmosphere, but within a more condensed site. Although the preparation and confirming of the venue has taken longer than we wanted, or anticipated, I believe we have made the right choice for both members and supporters to move to our new championships home."
