Drum Corps Europe has announced the order of performances for the Prelims at the DCE European Championships, this Saturday in the Parkstad Limburg Stadium in Kerkrade - The Netherlands.
The Senators have been crowned the 2008 DCUK Champions in the International Open Class. They took al captions, scoring 83.85. Kidsgrove Scouts came in second with a core of 82.35.
The Front Ensemble Award will be continued as a permanent award at the DCE European Championships. In 2006 the award was initiated by Cor and Ina Boer Rookhuiszen. Drum Corps Europe has decided to 'adopt' the award by adding it to the list of caption awards.

The on-line facility to purchase tickets for this years British Drum Corps Championships has now been closed and DCUK are pleased to advise that pre-sales are considerably up on the recent past. The Box Office at Marston's Arena will open at approximately 2pm for tickets with the doors opening to the public at 2.30pm.

Beatrix Drum & Bugle Corps from Hilversum are the new Drum Corps Netherlands Champions in the Open Class. The corps took all captions and scored 83.95. Jubal became second with a score of 82.00.

Whilst travelling towards Leicester, on what looked to be a day that was going to be wet, windy and cold (in keeping with the rest of the great British Summer!!!) I was starting to wonder whether or not the show could possibly still go on considering the conditions and driving rain that I was travelling through. Thankfully as I drew nearer to Leicester the rain stopped and the sun made a few brief appearances from behind the clouds.

Senators Drum & Bugle Corps topped the DCUK International Open Class yesterday in Leicester. The corps scored 81.00 and took all captions. The Kidsgrove Scouts became second with 77.10.
As of today you can sign up for the free SMS Service during the DCE European Championships on 27th September in Kerkrade. As soon as the scores of both the prelims and finals are announced, they will be texted to mobile phones via SMS at no charge.
Starriders Drum & Bugle Corps from Bad Münder has won the Drum Corps Germany contest yesterday in Hameln. Wölper Löwen came in second, followed by Showband Rastede (3rd) and Showband Gifhorn (4th).

The 2008 DCA World Championship is over. In open class the Reading Buccaneers pulled off the 4 peat and held off a charging Minnesota Brass with a 97.913 to MBI's 96.513.
Avant Courir will no longer take part next year in the open Class of CGN. The decision made by staff has been taken because the group has a shortage of members.
The 2009 Drum Corps International World Championships will take place Aug. 4-8 kicking off in Michigan City, Ind. for the Open Class Quarterfinals, followed by five events at the brand new Lucas Oil Stadium in downtown Indianapolis.

The audio for the DVD of the 2007 DCE Championships is being edited at this moment. After months of delay, Drum Corps Europe hopes to release the DVDs with high quality sound soon.
Millennium Drum & Bugle Corps from Verdello - Italy has performed in front of 60,000 people during the famous 'Birra Moreiit' trophy at the S. Paolo Stadium in Napoli. The event included the top football teams Milan, Juventus and Napoli.

Due to recent uncertainty with the advertised venue for the 2008 British Drum Corps Championships on Saturday 20th September the DCUK Board have made the decision to move the event to a new stadium.
Following the success of the Samsung viral video, which has now had over half a millions worldwide hits on youtube, the Black Knights from Gravesend in Kent are to appear in a new TV commercial for Pizza Hut. Management from Black Knights has sealed the deal to provide a drum corps for the commercial, which is filming over 2 days at the beginning of September.
Black Knights from Gravesend in Kent are to appear in two episodes of a new comedy sketch show, ??Beehive? to be shown on E4 later in the year. The show, to consist of five episodes, will star stand-up comedian Sarah Kendall, Alice Lowe (Garth Margenhi's Darkplace), Barunka O'Shaughnessy (Respectable) and Clare Thompson from the sketch group 'Piggy Nero'.
The internet advert for Samsung Omnia featuring members of Black Knights is now online. The video is a spoof unboxing of the product, which the members spent the day filming in studios in London. It was a great experience for the members, certainly a change from your regular drum corps appearance.
The corps that started their career with a VFW National Championship has won another American Legion National Championship and added another coveted orange flag to their color party. The Reading Buccaneers fought off the charge of DCA's showmen - Empire Statesmen - and took the title by over a point (actually 1.813).
Drum Corps Europe has asked designer Cristian Barbarino to design special 'Championships banners' for the upcoming DCE European Championships in Kerkrade - The Netherlands on 27th September. DCE informed all participating corps about the banners, and hopefully the banners will appear on many corps websites.
Following phone discussions and email exchanges, George Hopkins, the Director of the Cadets, has announced that Tom Aungst and Neil Larrivee have both tendered their resignations from the Cadets' design and instructional team. Although both resigned within hours of each other, Hopkins made clear that these were two different situations.

On 13th September, Vintage Performing Arts will hold the Guard & Percussion Launch Evening for the 2009 season. The evening will include the 2009 show announcements for both Vintage Percussion, current UK and European Champions.
Beatrix Drum & Bugle Corps is home again. Yesterday the corps returned from their 3 week DCI tour. Many people went to the corps home to welcome the corps members, including the members of cadet corps Jong Beatrix.

It was the closest of victories at the 2008 Drum Corps International World Championship Finals in Bloomington - Indiana. By only 0.025 points, Phantom Regiment passed the Blue Devils to take the gold medal and their second Championship title.

The Blue Devils (98.050) retained their grip on first place at the DCI World Class Semi Finals yesterday, with Phantom Regiment (97.675) passing the Cavaliers (97.550) to slide into second place by a slim margin. Only a half point separates first and third, with many captions still hotly contested.
Beatrix Drum & Bugle Corps has made it into the DCI Open Class Finals. The Dutch corps reached the eleventh place in the Semi Finals today. It's for the first time a European corps reaches the Open Class (Division II / III) Finals.
The first night of World Class competition at the Drum Corps International World Championships went to the Blue Devils (1st, 97.375), as the Cavaliers (2nd, 97.050) kept the Devils' lead to a small margin, and Phantom Regiment (3rd, 96.575) electrified an already enthusiastic audience at Indiana University's Memorial Stadium.
Black Knights have been approached to appear in a commercial for Samsung mobile phones. Members of the Black Knights will spend Thursday of this week filming the commercial at studios in Wimbledon.

Fans witnessed a spectacular night of drum corps action during the second evening of the DCI Eastern Classic in Allentown, Pennsylvania. Saturday night. Phantom Regiment members carried the show with a gold medal finish as they debuted a new ending to their program 'Spartacus'.
