Bruce Vrancken appointed Adjudication Manager

Drum Corps Europe has appointed Bruce Vrancken as the new DCE Adjudication Manager. Bruce will coordinate all judging matters as part of the DCE management team.


Two French musicians join The Senators

Two French musicians will join The Senators Drum & Bugle Corps for the 2009 season. David Lemant and Benoit Sueur will both march in the drumline of the DCE 2007 and 2008 European Champions.


Mayflower to return to WGI

Mayflower will return to the WGI arena in 2010. The guard will once again perform in the Independent World Class, competing against the world's elite colour guards. Mayflower last appeared in WGI competition in 2005.


Yokohama Scouts win fourth Drum Corps Japan title

The visual ingenious presented by both the other corps at the Drum Corps Japan Championships could not match the size and cleanliness of the Yokohama Scouts. With their show titled 'The Velocity', the Scouts combined both a well written drill with a solid music book on all ends to give them their fourth championships Division I title and first in three years.


Mayflower tops first WGUK contest

Mayflower won the Open Class at the first Winter Guard United Kingdom contest yesterday in Grantham. They scored 75.9, 0.4 points ahead of Northern Academy. The Southern Kinghts became third.


Stafford Lancers return to DCUK for 2009

Stafford Lancers are pleased to announce that they are to return to the DCUK competitive circuit to support DCUK`s 30th Anniversary season. Even though the Corps has not taken part competitively in DCUK for the last couple of years, they have still retained associate membership and are pleased with the structure that has been put in place for the forthcoming season.


DCUK 09 - 16 corps register in first week

At the end of the first week of registrations for the 2009 DCUK season 16 corps have now registered. 2009 will see DCUK celebrate its 30th Anniversary and will culminate with the 30th British Drum Corps Championships on Saturday 19th September.

Mourning the loss of a 'Middle Horn Leader'

In November, DCI.org reported on the declining health of David Welch, a mellophone player with the Garfield Cadets in the mid-1980s. In 2004, at the age of 38, he was diagnosed with a lemon-sized brain tumor. Rather than retreat from the tremendous challenges related to his diagnosis, Welch confronted them aggressively.


12 Corps register in first 24 hours for DCUK 2009

At 10am on Monday 5th January 2009 Drum Corps United Kingdom commenced the registration process for their 30th Anniversary season. Within the first 24 hours 12 corps had completed the on-line form making this a 100% increase on 2008 with more registrations anticipated over the coming few days.

DCJ Championships to take place on January 11th

Report: Vlamo clinic for Field Band Foundation

DCE, DCUK and DCN have clarified the description of instruments that can be amplified next season. All acoustic percussion membrane, acoustic percussion keyboards, latin percussion instruments and other comparable acoustic equipment used for musical effects are legal and can be amplified.


DCE Championships again in Kerkrade

The DCE European Championships 2009 will again be held in the Parkstad Limburg Stadium in Kerkrade. The football club Roda JC and Drum Corps Europe have come to an agreement about the stadium. The DCE Championships will be held on Saturday, September 26th.


Charity boxes stolen from Revolution

Revolution Show Corps from Queensbury - Bradford had their six charity boxes stolen from WestVale Lodge, Greetland, Halifax. The corps had earlier in the day done a couple of hours at Morrisons playing and collecting, and this is what the boxes were full of.

New class structure for DCUK competition

At all contests prior to Championships Finals (including Championships Prelims) there will be one Open Class for all established corps plus a Junior Class for feeder units to Open Class corps. The Junior Class will also be open to new and emerging Corps (subject to certain conditions - contact for details).

DCA wants more Open Class corps

In recognition of the growth of the Class A movement in Drum Corps Associates and conceding that many Class A corps - for one reason or another - intend to remain Class A, much discussion addressed this situation during the DCA Rules Congress in Rochester this weekend. The final vote to solidify this class definition was that at the DCA Preliminary Competition at Championships, the Class A Prelims will occur first and then, Open Class.

Clinic week at the Field Band Foundation in Durban

Blue Devils not coming to Europe this summer
