80 percent of Gold seats DCUK Championships sold

The Box Office for the 30th British Drum Corps Championships has now been open for just over 2 weeks and DCUK are pleased to report that just over 80% of the Gold seats have now been purchased.

Celebrate the end of the 2009 season in style, open to everyone in the activity, corps, bands, winterguards and interested independents. The BYBA event takes place at Haven Seaview Holiday Park, Weymouth from Thursday 5th to Sunday 8th November 2009.


European score page DCE certified shows

If you want to find out how the European Drum Corps relate to each other there is now a special European score page. It features the scores from the contests which have been DCE certified so far in 2009. Jubal have the highest ranking so far in Open Class.


Blue Devils are DCI 2009 Champions

With a score of 99.05, just a tenth of a point shy of the all-time record, the Blue Devils from Concord - California are Drum Corps International's 2009 World Class World Champions after completing an entirely undefeated season. Their success mirrored that of their Open Class counterparts, Blue Devils B, who earned the gold medal in the Open Class Finals competition earlier in the day after their own perfect season.

Troopers return to DCI elite

Three days into the 2009 Drum Corps International World Championships, a familiar face will finally return to the coveted top 12 of drum corps elite. After a 23 year absence from those ranks, the Troopers of Casper - Wyoming overtook the Colts by a slim margin of .30 points taking 12th place in the Semi Finals competition.


Top five in medal contention after Quarter Finals

A score of 97.95 was more than enough to secure the top spot for the Blue Devils at the World Class World Championship Quarter Finals on Thursday, the first Drum Corps International event held in Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis. The Blue Devils continued their winning streak at the event as they took the first step toward what they hope will end in a World Championship title before the end of the weekend.


Holy Name Cadets celebrate 75th anniversary

With thousands of alumni, supporters and fans cheering them on, the Holy Name Cadets enter the final week of their 75th anniversary season. Alumni and supporters by the hundreds cheered the corps on during their 75th anniversary weekend celebrations.


Blue Devils win 'Allentown', Crown only 0.5 behind

Carolina Crown earned top honors and made a statement Saturday, recording a score of 95.25 on the second day of the DCI Eastern Classic in Allentown, Pennsylvania. Crown ended up just half a point shy of the Blue Devils' score from the day before, drastically closing the 2.65 point gap between the corps just one week ago at the DCI Southeastern Championship in Atlanta.


New European indoor percussion unit: European X

Europe has a new indoor percussion unit: European X. The new unit is initiated by the American indoor percussion ensemble (and 2008/2009 WGI World Champions) Rhythm X and a group of Dutch instructors.


Membership Spirit of Coventry increased

Following two school workshops during Marching Youth Music Month, the Spirit Of Coventry Drum & Bugle Corps have increased their membership from 18 to currently 41. This has left them all excited at the prospects and as part of the corps plans they are hoping to perform at the 2009 DCUK finals in Mansfield.

The 2009 DCUK Championships box office will open at 10am today (Wednesday 29th July) with online orders being accepted from the DCUK website (via Paypal) plus an order form will also be available for postal ordering. A draft timetable for the event is also available via the Championships contest page on the DCUK website.


InCorps welcomes drill designer Albert Dijkshoorn

Albert Dijkshoorn has joined the InCorps team as drill designer and visual marching clinician and instructor. He has been involved with drum and bugle corps for many years in Europe and the USA.


Juliana beats Beatrix and Jubal at WMC

Yesterday Juliana Drum & Bugle Corps scored 1241 points at the World Music Contest in Kerkrade. Wiith this score, the corps from Middelburg beat Beatrix from Hilversum and Jubal from Dordrecht.


Record breaking score for Besana MB at WMC

Performing their 2009 show, 'Adamantis', the Besana Marching Band from Italy scored 1202,5 points at the World Music Contest in Kerkrade - The Netherlands, last weekend. The band entered the First Division Corps Style.


Kidsgrove Scouts top BYBA Barnsley

This Saturday, at the Barnsley BYBA competition, the Kidsgrove Scouts 2009 production 'The Heart' had its second public performance. Kidsgrove took to the field of competition and produced a high quality performance despite the strong winds, taking first place and winning the Music Effect, Visual Effect, Ensemble Music, Ensemble Visual, Field Percussion and Colour Guard captions along the way.


Senators top DCUK contest Warrington

The Senators have topped the DCUK Warrington show, yesterday in Warrington. The corps scored 72.30. The Kidsgrove Scouts came in second with a score of 71.10.


Blue Devils sweep Southwestern Series

The Alamodome in San Antonio opened its doors to 22 drum corps and thousands of excited fans Saturday, July 18 for the DCI Southwestern Championship. The Blue Devils maintained their pattern of success at the event with a score of 91.40, earning the title of DCI Southwestern Champion and sweeping all caption awards for the series.


The Senators and DCUK help set a world record

Steve Wright the 2009 drum major and member of the Senators Drum & Bugle took charge of 582 kit drummers during the 'Stick it to MS' largest drum ensemble world record attempt which was held at the National Indoor Arena Birmingham, England on Monday 13th July 2008 at the culmination of the National Guitarfest and Drumfest events.


37th Kingswood 2009: 'A Classical Renaissance'

Bluehawks top Irish DCE certified show

The Clonmel Bluehawks have topped the first DCE certified show in Ireland last Saturday. The event was a joint venture of the Irish Marching Band Association (IMBA) and Drum Corps United Kingdom.


Kidsgrove Scouts double success in Upton

DCUK 2009 Championships return to Mansfield

The 30th DCUK Championships will return to Field Mill stadium in Mansfield. Due to unprecedented interest shown in this year's event, the original venue and home of last years championships (Northwich Victoria) was deemed too small to offer the anticipated numbers of fans and competitors the quality drum corps experience they expect.

New venue for field bands National Championships

Unik Star auditions in France

For the new indoor percussion season, Unik Star Percussion Ensemble, based in Hellemmes - France is looking for the best musicians. The ensemble will be holding two audititons: one for the drumline (16th August) and one for the front ensemble (6th September).

Ten corps and bands, including the UK based Atherstone Youth Band an The Senators Drum & Bugle Corps, will enter the IMBA/DCUK show in Arklow next weekend, Saturday 11th July. The event will be a DCE certified contest.


Waterlooville Drum Corps to hold first rehearsal

Jubal stays on top at second DCN show

Jubal Drum & Bugle Corps stays on top in the Drum Corps Netherlands competition. The corps scored 72.50, a jump of 5.9 points. Beatrix came in second with a score of 69.70.

Glassmen volunteer bus in accident

Shortly before 7am this morning, the Glassmen volunteer bus was involved in an accident with a tractor trailer coming out of a service plaza. According to the Glassmen website, the bus driver was the only one to sustain injuries, but as a precautionary measure three volunteers were also taken to be checked out.

DCE unveals logo DCE Championships 2009

Drum Corps Europe has unvealed the logo of the DCE European Champrionships 2009 in Kerkrade. The logo has been designed by graphic artist Peter Franken. DCE will use the logo on all Championships publications, including the popular patches.

The stand sections A and B at the DCE European Championships have been sold out, six weeks after DCE started the online sale of tickets. More than 1,000 tickets have been sold.


Scouts make donation to Marching Music France

Marching Music France wants to thank the Madison Scouts Drum & Bugle Corps and Stanbury for this donation. Madison Scouts gave 40 uniforms (pants and coats) to MMF. These uniforms will be worn this summer by members of the first national MMF summer camp.


Northern Star return

This past weekend was one of significant importance for the Northern Star Drum & Bugle Corps from Leeds, England. Having taken the decision to not march in 2008 many thought they would have seen the end of the four times British Youth Band Association Champions and twice Drum Corps Europe runners-up. This Saturday, however, saw the corps take to the field for the first time since DCE Championships night 2007.


Kidsgrove Scouts to tour USA in 2010

As part of our celebrations Kidsgrove Scouts Drum & Bugle corps will tour and compete in the Drum Corps Associates World Championships (DCA) in 2010. This decision allows Kidsgrove Scouts to continue to develop and match the demands of the Drum Corps activity in the UK and Europe whilst providing the organisation with a new and exciting challenge.

The Drum Corps Associates website has received a much needed facelift and revitalisation for 2009. The new website is the work of Brian Haslanger, well known California web designer. He has designed a clean, colourful and up to date website that will easy to use and informative.

Trinity 'do deal' with Dynasty

Trinity School Show Band have signed a lucrative six year deal with percussion manufacturer Dynasty. The deal will see Trinity carry the Dynasty name and use exclusively their field and tuned percussion for the next six years.


Pacemakers announce show 'Queen Phenomenon'

In 1970 an English rock band was formed that would go on to dominate the worlds pop charts: Queen. Known for their musical diversity, multi-layered arrangements, vocal harmonies and all out energy Queen became one of the greatest bands of all time. In 2009 The Pacemakers will bring this band to the drum corps field.


Dutch corps members receive scholarships

Two DCI corps members were recently awarded $1,000 scholarships from the international nonprofit organisation, Dutch in DCI. Established by former drum corps members in 2006, Dutch in DCI seeks to provide opportunities for Dutch students to participate with Drum Corps International groups. With financial assistance, the organisation helps to offset costs for the Dutch performers who often fly back and forth to attend monthly rehearsal camps during the non-touring season.
