German Open 2010 become DCE Certified Show

The German Open will become a DCE Certified Show. The organisers of the event and Drum Corps Europe have come to an agreement on this. The event will be held in the Weserbergland Stadium in Hameln.


DCE introduces Premium Tickets

Tickets for this year's DCE European Championships will go on sale on the 1st of May. Besides the standard tickets, DCE now also introduces special Premium Tickets. These tickets come with plenty of added extras.

Tyler Junior College has arrived in Europe

The members of Tyler Junior College are in Europe. They arrived this morning at Brussels Airport in Belgium. Today they will be performing at the Indoor Percussion Europe contest in Dadizele - Belgium.


Jubal partners with Majestic

Jubal Drum & Bugle Corps from Dordrecht has found a new partner for their percussion section. Majestic Instruments from the town of Nijehaske in Friesland - The Netherlands will provide their fielddrums and front ensemble instruments for the corps for the coming years. This means that Jubal will say goodbye to their long-time relationship and collaboration with Dynasty.


The Pride is the world's largest winter guard

The Pride winter guard from Huizen is the largest winter guard association in the world, as concluded by the club's own investigation. "We been not able to find an association with six units anywhere else in the world", The Pride announces.

Corps interested in German Open

With still more than five months to go, nine corps have registered for the German Open competition in Hameln. This will be the only drum corps competition in Germany this year.


IMBA enters Certified Partnership with DCE

The Irish Marching Bands Association (IMBA) and Drum Corps Europe have announced that the two associations will now officially enter a Certified partnership. This partnership will offer many opportunities for Irish bands to travel and compete in events across Europe.


Brigadiers will not compete in 2010

The Brigadiers Music Association (BMA) along the administration of the Brigadiers Drum & Bugle corps has determined that the group will not be fielding a competitive DCA corps for the 2010 season. While the Brigadiers maintain a dedicated nucleus of talented performers, the decision was made due to unsuccessful attempts to recruit additional members to make 2010 a productive season.


DCI directors vote for open roof

During a scheduled conference call last night, the voting members of Drum Corps International voted 11 to 9 in favor of opening the retractable roof at Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis for the 2010 World Championship Quarter Finals on Thursday, 12th August.


DCI mourns loss founding father George Bonfiglio

Legendary Drum Corps International Hall of Fame member George Bonfiglio, passed away Friday evening after declining health over the last several years. He was 79. One of DCI's founding fathers, Bonfiglio led the 27th Lancers Drum & Bugle Corps of Revere, Mass. for nearly two decades and was the very first chairman of the DCI Board of Directors.


IPE publishes interview with Tyler Junior online

Indoor Percussion Europe recently interviewed director Tom McGowan of Tyler Junior College. In the next two weeks, the drum line will appear twice at IPE events, both in mainland Europe and in the UK. The interview is now online.


The Pride ranks fifth in WGI ranking list

Winter Guard International keeps a ranking list with the most recent scores during WGI Regionals. The Pride from Huizen is now in fifth place in the Independent Open Class, after five of the total seven WGI Regionals.


No IPE contest at Burgess Hill

Due to the withdrawal of units from the scheduled IPE indoor percussion contest on Sunday 14th March, which was to form part of the WGUK Contest at Burgess Hill, it has been decided to cancel this event.


French junior corps Kadoudal announces show

The new French junior drum & bugle corps Kadoudal has announced the new show programme 'Brittany Forces'. It's the first show in their existence. With the show they will enter the DCE European Championships this year.


Bristol Spintastic proves a big success

Sunday March 7th saw the first ever Winterguard Spintastic to be held in the West Country which attracted over 200 participants from near and far to the WISE campus, Filton College. Local groups included Bristol Harlequins and Cohesion whilst special guests Inbhear Mor Marchers came all the way from Arklow, Co Wicklow, Ireland.

The Academy's creative director, and WGUK judge Darren Darton has recently spent time in Italy teaching an up and coming Italian colourguard, who are part of a successful Italian Marching band, Giuseppe Verdi Marching Band.


Indoor contest DCG cancelled

Jubal wins WGI European Regional

Jubal Indoor Percussion has won the WGI European Regional in Goes - The Netherlands yesterday. It was the first contest ever of the indoor drumline from Dordrecht. The UK drumline Vintage came third.


Con Spirito invests in new instruments

Showband Con Spirito from Joure has purchased 31 new Quantum Marching Brass brass instruments from the German manufacturer Jupiter. The purchase is an investment of 55,000 euros.

Beatrix takes European winter guard title

In what became a huge battle for first, Beatrix outscored The Pride by 0.2 points in Finals after a Prelims defeat. The Independent A-Class was won by the Starriders and the Junior Class and Cadet Class titles went to The Pride.


Star of Indiana to perform at DCI Championships

Last weekend, former Star of Indiana members returned to action at the corps' headquarters in Bloomington, Indiana. The alumni corps will perform at the DCI 2010 World Championships in Indianapolis.

Riverside chooses Pearl and Adams

The Riverside Community College Marching Tigers kick off 2010 by choosing Pearl Drums and Adams Musical instruments for all its ensemble performances, including the Marching Tigers, Pep Band, Riverside All-Stars Band, and three-time WGI Independent World Class Champion RCC Indoor Drumline.


Douglas Caldwell appointed Adjudication Manager

Kidsgrove Scouts with at least 120 people to the US

Extreme Brass make their debut this Wednesday

The newest project from the Black Knights Drum & Bugle Corps from Gravesend in Kent, will be appearing this Wednesday at the Hammersmith Apollo in London as part of the TV tapings for Britain's Got Talent. Extreme Brass comprises of ten brass performers and a kit drummer and will be looking to entertain not only the 3500 strong audience but also the judges Piers Morgan, Amanda Holden and Simon Cowell.


18 DCUK corps line up for the coming season

Drum Corps United Kingdom has announced that 18 corps have registered for the 2010, and 31st consecutive, season. New registrations include, in only their second year of existence, Liberty Drum Corps from Northampton and The Company from Barnsley.


Juliana partners with Evans Drumheads

The American company Evans Drumheads (D'Addario) is establishing itself in Europe. Juliana Drum & Bugle Corps from Middelburg is now included in the list of Evans artists. Previously, Beatrix from Hilversum announced the same deal.


Task Force reaches out

During the European Drum Corps Symposium in London last weekend Task Force coordinator Robby Overvliet asked all corps to get involved and utilize the Task Force that was initiated during the 2009 symposium. DCE will soon start sending the 2009 DVDs

At the end of this week, Drum Corps Europe will start sending DVDs of the DCE European Championships of 2009. As always, the DVDs have high quality picture and sound.


New class names: Premier and Junior Class

Drum Corps Europe will be changing the names of the different classes. The ancient terms Open Class and Cadet Class will disappear with immediate effect. From 2010, DCE will use the terms Premier Class and Junior Class. This was announced by the DCE management team at the symposium.


Successful symposium in London

The second European Drum Corps Symposium in London was a great success. Dozens of staff and board members have enthusiastically exchanged experiences and discussed the future of drum corps. The breakout sessions were also well attended.

The Pacemakers: 'Back For Good'
