WGUK 2012 Junior Class age limit reduced
Winter Guard United Kingdom has reduced the maximum age for the Junior Class to 17 years old. This was approved at the recent WGUK Board Meeting.
For the 2012 season you cannot have reached your 18th Birthday by 31st December 2011. If you are 18 on or after 1st January 2012 then you are still eligible to compete in the Junior Class in 2012.
A few years ago the Junior Class age limit was raised to 25. This coincided with Open Class becoming open age and was changed to not penalise units that possibly had one or two older members but were predominately of a younger age and specifically of a standard deemed to be Junior Class (rather than A Class).
Over the past couple of seasons WGUK have had a number of communications from its member organisations questioning this age and suggesting it is reduced down to an age more suited to the Junior Class name. This has now taken effect.
