IMBA Finals to be held in Tallaght
This year's IMBA Finals will be held this Saturday at the Tallaght Municipal Stadium, from 4.30 pm. It is the first time in ten years that IMBA Finals have been held in Tallaght, a place many say is the home of the association.
Tallaght is a suburb of Dublin, and grew in population from a village in the 1960s to nearly 70,000 residents today. During that time Marching Bands have been a huge part of Tallaght and nine different bands from the area have competed in the IMBA competition over the years.
A committee of local bands in association with South Dublin County Council are hosting the event. For the second time in two years, the IMBA finals will be held at night under lights, this time in the 6,000 seated Tallaght Municipal Stadium.
The stadium is a modern venue and opened in 2009. The home of Shamrock Rovers FC, it is where little known soccer player Christiano Ronaldo made his debut for Real Madrid in the same year.
