Belgian in snare line of NorthCoast Academy
This winter, Maarten Deschacht will be joining the snare line of the American NorthCoast Academy Percussion Ensemble. It will be the first time that a Belgian musician is part of a drum line at Winter Guard International.
Deschacht has played with the Velvet Knights for one season and also spent three years with the Madison Scouts, always playing the marimba. His dream was to march his age-out year in a snareline. NorthCoast Academy will give him that chance and he will stay with them for a full six months.
After the winter season, Deschacht will continue his piano and percussion studies at the Conservatory in Ghent. He should be starting his fourth year now, but has taken a year off to concentrate on his time at NorthCoast. (Source: Johan Delacauw)
