Belgians join the Kidsgrove Scouts
Sem Vanhessche and Maarten Descamps are joining the Kidsgrove Scouts this year. It is the first time that Belgians have joined an English drum & bugle corps. The 99 members of Kidsgrove Scouts will be travelling to America this year to participate in the Drum Corps Associates championships. "So basically we're killing two birds with one stone: first Belgians in an English corps and the first time that an English corps has participated in DCA since 1990", said Sem Vanhessche and Maarten Descamps.
The two have attended the first camp at the Kidsgrove Scouts. It was an intense weekend with short nights and include a journey of many hundreds of miles for the Belgians. To reduce the travel cost, Vanhessche and Descamps have decided to start selling towels. This was a great success: the first stock of towels has already been sold.
