Besana Marching Band at Italian Song Festival
The well-known Italian hip-hop group Gemelli Diversi from Milan has invited Besana Marching Band to join them for a performance during the Italian Song Festival. The festival will be broadcasted on Italy's main TV channel RAI1.
The four band members of Gemelli Diversi will bring their song 'Vivi Per Miracolo' ('Alive For a Miracle') to the 59th Italian Song Festival, the most important competitive music event in Italy that will take place in Sanremo from the 17th to the 21st of February 2009. The group has chosen the Besana Marching Band as guests and soundtrack players for their song.
Gemelli Diversi came to the Besana Marching Band after seeing the movie 'Drumline', and wanted the Besana drum and brass players to give their song stronger accents and impact. 24 out of the 60 musicians will join the hip-hop group on stage.
"We're proud to share the Ariston stage with the Besana Marching Band", the members of Gemelli Diversi said. "We want to bring a new music style on stage that we feel close to, making the two street genres of hip-hop and marching band become one."
"An unexpected and very welcome invitation, which thrills the entire Banda Besana Association", a spokesman said. "We are honoured by this fantastic opportunity and hope to meet the expectations of the group from Milan."
