Hopkins: 'Instant encores would change things'
In an interview with the German drum corps portal Drum Corps Café, corps director George Hopkins from The Cadets said that he would like to let the audience decide if they want a corps to do an instant encore performance or not.
When Drum Corps Café asked Hopkins what he would like to change if he was in charge at Drum Corps International, he said: "There is much. I would install instant encores - fans could ask for more or they could ask the corps to move on. That would change things!"
Furthermore, Hopkins would want to shorten the drum corps season, invest far more into judge training, invest in double panels of judges for the big shows, and open up the rules to allow for electronics and other instruments. "I just believe that we need to try all tools to come up with the best possible product."
