Midsomer Norton launches 'Reivus'
Midsomer Norton Marching Brass has announced the successful launch of a new senior performance ensemble: Redivus. Redivus (derived from the latin for reborn) are an adult, all brass ensemble, who were formed in February 2007. The current line-up comprises ex-marching members (also some current instructors) from Midsomer Norton Marching Brass.
Redivus performed in public for the very first time at the Midsomer Norton Mardi Gras last Saturday. Playing forward facing brass instruments, the band certainly turned heads as it took to the main outdoor stage, as the opening act of the 2007 festival.
With many veteran members from Midsomer Norton's national championship winning marching band of the late eighties and early nineties, the first ever set by Redivus promised to deliver the full technical and dynamic capabilities of the group. Tunes performed included those by Puccini, Michael Jackson, John Rutter, Green Day, U2 and The Mamas & The Papas.
Redivus will continue rehearsals throughout the summer and autumn with the group looking forward to its next engagement on November 30th. (Text: byba.org.uk)
