Concord to enter BYBA Competitions for 2007
Concord Drum & Bugle Corps has now confirmed their 2007 summer contest season entries. They remain fully committed to DCUK and will be appearing at all three regional shows and DCUK Finals. The corps will compete in the National Open Class. To complete their summer contesting schedule, Concord will be applying to enter two BYBA contests â?? at Batley and Stafford. They will apply to compete in BYBA Division 1.
Whilst still fielding a relatively young corps, the current DCUK Class 'A' Champions believe that this level of competition will be challenging and valuable to their membership. Concord will continue to pursue their long-term aims of providing entertainment, excitement and enjoyment for their audiences. Their show programme of 'Diamonds and Divas' is designed to achieve those aims in providing accessible and memorable shows.
In addition to competition outings, Concord will be appearing in a series of high-profile public events, including the Manchester Tattoo and the UK Corporate Games. They will be providing half-time entertainment and during-the-match 'encouragement' for both Sheffield Steelers ice hockey and Sheffield Sharks basketball teams and presenting a percussion workshop for Derbyshire County Council Music Education Services. A European trip is also in the planning stages for later in the year.
Commenting on this news recently posted by Concord on the BYBA Notice Board, Paul Morgan, Chairman of BYBA Communications says "I am extremely pleased to see that Concord remain, as they always have been, a strong supporter of DCUK for the 2007 season, and even more delighted to see that they are making time, in what looks like another very busy schedule for the corps, to enter into competition within BYBA. I am sure that they will be made to feel extremely welcome by everyone here at the British Youth Band Association, and that they will enjoy the experience very much."
