DCA rejects bid for Hersheypark
A legal battle that killed a midstate drum & bugle corps contest in Hershey - Pennsylvania has also cost the area its chance to attract a much larger and more lucrative drum corps event for Labor Day weekend of 2006.
Rhode Island-based Drum Corps Associates has notified local officials that it has rejected their bid for Hersheypark Stadium to host the group's three-day 2006 DCA World Championships.
Gil Silva, DCA president, said yesterday that the rejection stems from a dispute fought in Cumberland County Court early this summer between Carlisle-based Five Star Brass Productions Inc. and Hershey Entertainment & Resorts Co., which owns Hersheypark Stadium.
