Kidsgrove Scouts delve into the myths of Stonehenge
Next year, the Kidsgrove Scouts will bring a show called 'The Stone Circle'. The title refers to the Stonehenge monument in England, and the myths about this mysterious structure.
The subtitle of the show is 'The myths and magic of Stonehenge'. The world famous stones near the town of Amesbury are surrounded by myths. Were the stones made by giants, or did the devil himself place the stones there? The 2014 British drum corps champions are dedicating their 2015 show to this prehistoric phenomenon.
The show features music from Medea's Dance of Vengeance, Op.23a (Samuel Barber), and cosists of five parts: 'Raising the Stones', 'Summer Solstice', 'Pegan Celebration', 'Druid Chant' and 'The Sacrifice'.
'The Stone Circle' will not only be performed in Europe. The Kidsgrove Scouts are also participating in the Drum Corps Associates World Championships in Rochester, New York.
