Percussion Unlimited wins WGI Regional
Percussion Unlimited from Loon op Zand - The Netherlands won the Independent Marching Open Class at the WGI Regional in Goes, The Netherlands last Saturday. The group narrowly beat Unik Star from Hellemmes.
There was not a huge interest for the WGI Regional from European percussion units. Besides Percussion Unlimited and Premier (Krommenie - The Netherlands), the French Unik Star (Hellemmes) were the only ones to travel to Goes to participate. Premier won the Percussion Prep Class, as they were the only unit in this class.
Three American judges came over for the Regional. Caleb Rothe gave the highest points to Unik Star in the Performance Analysis caption of the Independent Marching Open Class. Colleagues Mike Jackson (Visual) and Dave Marwin (General Effect) assessed the performance of Percussion Unlimited with more points, which meant the Dutch remained 0.6 points ahead of the unit from Hellemmes.
