Prelims and Finals for WGUK Junior and A-Class
For a number of years discussions have taken place regarding providing a Prelims and Finals event for classes other than Open Class and so for 2008 WGUK are pleased to announce that the Junior Class and A Class will have a 'preliminary round' on Championships day with the top three guards in each class progressing to a Finals competition prior to the Open Class Finals.
All Junior and A Class will compete as normal during the day however, unlike Open Class, their scores will not be announced throughout the event. All Guards will then come back onto the arena as usual for a Olympic Retreat where their scores will be read out in reverse order up to and including 4th place - all these guard will also receive their certificates and patches as in previous years.
The scores and positions of the remaining 3 guards will not be announced at this point but these units will progress into an evening Finals with their order of performance decided by a live draw which will take place on the arena before the Guards are dismissed.
Once the 3 guards have competed again in the Finals they will be brought back onto the arena where the results will be announced for the bronze, silver and gold medal positions together with the awarding of trophies, certificates and patches.
WGUK are excited about this new and innovative enhancement to their Championships event giving the opportunity to showcase the best of their younger units.
