DCI moving to Indianapolis in 2008

This year's championship in Madison - Wisconsin is expected to draw
35,000 to that city over five days. Organisation officials say they
want to increase that number when the competition moves to
Indianapolis. Over 10 years, the competition is expected to have an
economic impact of $100 million on the city, said Dan Acheson,
executive director and chief executive of Drum Corps International.
He said Indianapolis tourism officials have been trying to attract the
organization in recent years. But Drum Corps International decided to
make the move only after the city unveiled plans to build a new
multimillion dollar football stadium with a retractable roof. "There's
a purity of acoustics that happens with an outdoor environment that we
enjoy, but we also enjoy rain insurance", Acheson said.
If Lucas Oil Stadium is not ready in 2008, the competition will be in
