The Pride brings triptych to WGI European Regional
Winterguard The Pride from Huizen - The Netherlands will be bringing a triptych (from the Greek tri - 'three' plus ptychē -'fold') to the winter guard floor in 2007 with their three competitive units. The triptych concept is 'Horen, Zien en Zwijgen' which is Dutch for the saying 'see no evil, hear no evil, talk no evil'.
The Pride Cadets program is called: Horen â?? 'Sounds of the City'. Their program relates to the different sounds you would hear in a city if you would really take a moment to listen to them. At the same time a deaf person would not be able to hear these sounds, however this would not necessarily be a disadvantage... Sounds of the city, Beethoven's 'Moonlight Sonata' and 'Welcome to the City' from Amy Diamond will be from the soundtrack. Tamara Zuijdervliet, Melanie Heinze and Rianne Zoon have designed this show for 24 young kids.
The Pride A will bring their 2007 program called: Zien - 'If Living Is Seeing, I'm Holding My Breath'. Their program deals with being able to see one another without having to use your eyes. Blind people would also be able to do this using other senses. When you listen, when you feel... what do you hear, what do you feel? What do you experience? The Pride A uses excerpts from the soundtrack of the movie 'Dancer in the Dark'. Icelandic singer Bjork has written unique music for this film. Erick Bacon, Mariska Bernardt (Crossmen alumni), Gea Jacobs, Peter Knoppers and Mariska Sweering have designed this show from the 16 young ladies in The Pride A.
The Pride Open 2007 program is called: Zwijgen â?? 'The Master Puppeteer of his own Marionette'. They will close the The Pride triptych with a program inspired on the 'silent movie'. The Pride Open 2007 will with 28 performers, again push the boundaries of winter guard in The Netherlands. 'Zwijgen' is based on 'An American in Paris' by George Gerswin. The program is designed by Erick Bacon (Alliance of Miami alumni, former Paradigm and Shaktai staff), Robby Overvliet (Emerald Marquis alumni, former Sacred Heart staff), Sylvia Vos (current Pride of Cincinnati member), Ilonka Zuijdervliet and Tamara Zuijdervliet (Pioneer, Crossmen alumni).
Winterguard The Pride is, with nearly 100 members, currently the largest winter guard organisation in Europe. The organisation has grown steadily over the last 5 years to - no less than - five units this season.
