DCUK show Warrington topped by The Company

Publish Date: 19 Jul 2010 - 532 views

The second DCUK show of the 2010 season saw one Junior Class corps, 11 out the 13 Open Class corps and a guest band from Ireland in competition at Victoria Park in Warrington. After last years downpour, this year, whilst grey clouds were present during most of the day, luckily the corps only had a few spots of rain.

The day was started by Kidsgrove Scouts Juniors who are growing more confident every time they compete. In Open Class the first unit to perform were the guests from Ireland, Boyle Marching Band, who were very well received by the capacity audience in the stand.

The next 4 corps to perform, 37th Kingswood, 6th Hove Scouts, Trinity and Cheshire Cadets, were making their first appearance at a DCUK in 2010 and were then followed by the remaining 7 corps all who had appeared at Stoke two week earlier.

There are quite a few little 'battles' forming now across the Open Class with the top honours in this class being taken today by The Company who took 1st place by just over 1 point from Kidsgrove Scouts. Full results below and recaps are available on the DCUK website.

DCUK travels south next to Eastleigh in Hampshire on Sunday 5th September for the final contest prior to the British Championships.
