BYBA Festival not going ahead
Plans had been put in place to provide a shorter BYBA Festival event over a weekend in February. Despite the efforts of the Festival Committee the festival is not going ahead for several reasons. Plans had been put in place to provide a shorter BYBA Festival event over a weekend in February. Despite the efforts of the Festival Committee the festival is not going ahead for several reasons.
The reasons are that the Haven group would only consider numbers of at least 600 plus attending, but 80-90 people were interested in attending the event. Also, communication between Haven and the Festival Committee was hampered with their delay in responding to requests as well as difficulties in trying to get a licence from the local council to open their venue outside of the season.
The delay in publicising this decision has been due to the fact that the committee have been trying to negotiate with Haven and other similar groups for provision of a site that would consider smaller numbers. Alongside that other venues were explored in the hope that the event could still go ahead in February. Following discussions, the Festival Committee has made the decision not to hold up this decision any longer.
All is not lost though and another date later in the year is being explored with a view for catering the even for approx 100 â?? 200 participants and the committee is currently exploring some possible leads in this respect.
