The Cadets perform in Inaugural Parade
As the first African American president in the history of the United States, Barack Obama was inaugurated as the President of the United States, the Cadets were there. One of a hundred or so performing groups selected from 1,800 applications, the Cadets, proved to be the class of the event.
Hours and hours of standing in formation in the cold, as the parade began more two hours late, could not deter the corps, as they performed in magnificent fashion along the route, and for millions and millions of people across numerous channels cross country and around the world.
This event, and this economy challenged the Cadets financially. For the rest of this week, the campaign for the Inaugural Parade Fund continues. Taking the Cadets in mid-January was not the easiest of things to do, but the corps felt it was important, for the legacy of the Cadets and for the individual members. "We did something that we can tell others about for the rest of our lives on earth", the Cadets stated on their website.
