DCI Championships move to Madison in 2006
Drum Corps International will return to Madison - Wisconsin in 2006. DCI executive director Dan Acheson confirmed the venue in an interview with Steve Vickers, publisher of Drum Corps World. For 2007 or 2008, California will be an option for the world championships.
Many drum corps fans will love the idea of Camp Randall in Madison as the venue of the world championships. DCI has visited Madison many times in its history.
"We have been discussing the possibility of bringing the championships to California in 2007 or 2008", Acheson said to Drum Corps World. "The 'Tour of Champions' this summer opened up some possibilities, but there are significant challenges to overcome to make this happen." Buffalo and Orlando are not in near-term plans, but Denver is. "We can't get back to Denver quick enough as far as I am concerned", Acheson said.
