The Academy to compete in DCI Division I for 2007
The Academy Drum & Bugle Corps has been accepted into Division I competition for 2007. Executive Director Mark Richardson was joined by Marketing/Development consultant, Ed Coyoli at the Executive Committee Meeting in Indianapolis to present the intentions of the organisation.
Richardson spent an hour talking through the history of the Arizona Academy of the Performing Arts and brought the committee members up to speed on the financial, touring, and membership plans for 2007 and beyond. An honest question and answer session followed regarding the organisation, its sustainability of the program over the next several years to come, and the value of The Academy to the Drum Corps International brand.
"Certainly this is the direction that we have been aiming for since the inception of this organization in 2000", says Richardson. "It's interesting that most of the world was introduced to us for the first time in 2006 with our first journey to World Championships in Madison. To those new acquaintances, it may seem as if we came out of nowhere, while the reality is that we have been educating and training students in this activity for six years."
2007 marks the seventh year of the performing ensemble and the fourth year as a competitive drum & bugle corps.
