2014 marks the 30th anniversary of the formation of Concord, Sheffield, UK. To celebrate on Saturday the 11th of October 2014 the alumni/members are hosting a celebration evening at the first class 'Inox Dine' at the University of Sheffield.

The Drum Corps Netherlands competition will be managed by DCE. In consultation between the managements of both organisations, DCE has decided to take over the responsibility of the Dutch drum corps organisation. This organisational change will not have impact on the contests or the corps.

Drum Corps Netherlands will have a well-filled line-up this season. The Dutch drum corps organisation is welcoming sixteen corps to the 2014 competition.

Drum Corps United Kingdom has announced the corps that have registered so far for the 2014 season. At least fourteen corps will corps will participate this summer.

Mosson Drum & Bugle Corps has unfortunately opted out of the DCE European Championships. The Italian corps announced that, due to internal problems, it has been forced to make this painful decision.

Jubal Indoor Percussion won the Independent Marching Open Class at the European contest of Winter Guard International last Saturday. The corps from Dordrecht surpassed DrumSpirit, who were strongest in the Prelims.

Despite many hosting preparations that have been made by the Heartliner to set up a contest, only Millennium Drum & Bugle Corps from Italy showed interest. So due to lack of interest of corps, Heartliner regret to announce the cancellation of the drum corps show in Ludwigshafen 2014.

In 2014, Juliana is being led by a new drum major. This season, Shana Beernaert will succeed Youri Debaere, who was on the podium in 2013.

Mayflower from Billericay in England won the Independent Open Class of the Dutch WGI Regional Saturday. In Almere - The Netherlands, the guard beat The Pride by almost two points. 

This weekend, Paul Rennick from Santa Clara Vanguard will join the IPE judges panel at the Scandinavian IPE percussion regional. This Saturday, nine percussion units from Sweden and Denmark will enter the competition floor.

The Kidsgrove Scouts will be returning to Drum Corps Associates in 2015. The corps will compete in regionals and the DCA Finals in Rochester - New York. It will be their third tour since 2010.

Germany's biggest international music festival this year will be a DCE certified show. Currently, five corps have already registered for the 59th internationale 'Rasteder Musiktage' (5th and 6th July). Beatrix from The Netherlands will be one of the competitiors at the German music event.

A lot of drum corps fans are qorried about DCI's recent rule change to allow any type of brass instruments on the field. An online petition has been singed by almost 5,000 fans so far.

Drum Corps International will allow any brass instrument in the competition, even those not traditionally considered to be of the 'bell-front' variety as stipulated in the DCI rulebook. The proposal passed overwhelmingly by the voting membership at the DCI Winter Business Meetings last weekend.

The Executive Director of the South African Field Band Foundation, Retha Cilliers, passed away on Tuesday at the age of 57. She was the driving force behind the organisation that tries to give disadvantaged young people from show bands a chance at a better life.

No less than nine European countries are represented in the competition of Indoor Percussion Europe this year. The organisation has announced that 21 drumlines will compete. The season details have been published.

The American cabler VH1 has given the green light to a TV movie follow-up to ‘Drumline’ (2002), the network announced. The sequel will have a female lead character.

The European percussion championships of Indoor Percussion Europe will not be held in Tournai this year, but in Wevelgem which is also in Belgium. The organisation has found a venue there that better meets the needs of the participants. 

This year’s contest of Indoor Percussion Europe in Ireland will go ahead. The contest is a joint event of Indoor Percussion Europe and the Irish Marching Bands Association.

Heartliner are planning to host a Drum Corps Show in Ludwigshafen. Starting in 2014, it will be a permanent show in the European Music Games.

The design team of Juliana Drum & Bugle Corps from Middelburg has started designing the new show. The corps will be asking itself lots of questions, with the appropriate show title “What If?”. The inspiration comes from extraordinary people for whom the question “What If?” led to great things.

The year 2013 was a good 'social' year for DCE. Both on Facebook and on Twitter, the number of followers of the drum corps organisation grew considerably.

Winter Guard United Kingdom announced that all 25 performances from the first WGUK contest of 2014, held at Fenton Manor Sports Centre on 12th January, are now available to view on UK Fan Network.

Kidsgrove Scouts Senior Winterguard finished in first place in the Open Class at the first WGUK winter guard show of the season last Sunday with their programme entitled 'Titanium'. The guard achieved a score of 78.20.

In addition to the 2013 Premier Class Finals and the Junior Class Finals, Drum Corps Europe has now also released the complete Prelims on DVD. The set containing 4 DVDs is available from the DCE webshop for only 25 euros (including postage and packaging).

Indoor Percussion Europe has cancelled the contests in Ireland and France. The contest in Sweden and of course the IPE European Championships will go ahead, with participants from no less than eight European countries.

Tallaght Youth Band Marching Vikings become ’The Vikings' on the competition field. The name change is also part of a larger transformation of the organisation as this year sees the Vikings transform from brass and reed to a drum & bugle corps.

At the end of December, the judging team of Drum Corps Europe judged the Championships in Indonesia. Five European and five Asian DCE judges judged the 22 participants in the Grand Prix Marching Band competition. DCE also held a well-attended clinic for the groups.
