YEA! to form 'Winter Brass' ensemble
In response to requests from schools, business associations, and corporate entities, YEA! announces the formation of 'Winter Brass'. Created to be a traveling 'clinic band', at least for stage one, Winter Brass will consist of 25 brass players who travel to schools. The ensemble will be made up of current members of the Cadets and Crossmen, as well as college brass players and alumni of the two corps.
The initial season for 'Winter Brass' will be January 2 and January 14, 2006. Rehearsals will begin over Thanksgiving, 2005 and proceed over the month of December. A 'camp', scheduled from December 26 until January 1 will precede departure, and then one bus, one truck, one van, and 'the band' will be headed along the Atlantic Coast.
The ensemble will be managed by Mike Pfeil, the Director of Performing Ensembles for YEA!, and Matt Haines, soon to be on board as an Associate Manager as well as the Assistant Director of the Cadets. (Source: drumcorpsplanet.com)
