WGI rejects Beatrix guard soundtrack
Winter Guard International has rejected the soundtrack for the new show by Beatrix from Hilversum - The Netherlands. Due to copyright issues, the soundtrack they submitted can't be used in the WGI competition.
In April, Beatrix will take part in the WGI Championships in Dayton - Ohio. Increasingly, participants in DCI, WGI and BOA seem to be confronted with pieces of music that can't be used for the show, because composers and music publishers refuse to give corps a license to use their work.
The rejection is a setback for the winter guard from Hilversum, because they had already been rehearsing the soundtrack for two weekends. Due to the restrictions, Beatrix has had to put together a new track to meet the approval of the American winter guard organisation.
The resulting loss of more than two weeks worth of training has now been recovered by the guard members. This winter season, Beatrix' winter guard will present a show entitled 'Anne Frank'.
