First major Drum Corps France clinic
Drum Corps France, the brand name of the 'Fédération des Drum Corps et Marching Bands de France', will hold its third clinic in Saint Quentin, department of Aisne, on Saturday, May 7.
Two DCF clinics have been already held on in Creutzwald (Moselle department, north east of France, close to german boundary) on January 30, for marching & manoeuvering - drill; and in Saint Martin Boulogne (Pas de Calais department, north west of France, on seaside) on February 13, for marching & manoeuvering and the color-guards caption.
Thanks to the cooperation of the CGN board, Show & Marching Music and the Borsalino foundation, three foreign clinicians (Dunja Veerman - Holland, Dirk Jan van Groningen - Holland, and Rudy Wynants - Belgium) will come to France for a full day of work with brass, marching percussions and color-guards of DCF member corps.
Other DCF clinics will be held in other areas at the end of the season, after October 15 (because of the CGN I&E contest in wich many DCF musicians will take part), for the following captions: mallets, marching percussions, brass, color-guards, M&M, drill design and corps management. These clinics will help the instructors of DCF corporated groups to prepare and develop their 2006 season programmes.
The marching band and drum corps activity is spreading all over the country, and the DCF federation is working hard to boost its French corps to be representative and competitive at the European competition circuits, but also for street and tattoo performances.
The major event for this year will be the DCF Music Festival on September 10, in the huge Sports Palace of Saint Quentin wich will present the following Corps: Edelweiss Marching Band, BF Le Coq Lavelanétien, Showband USA, Show and Marching Band La Vaillante, Faubourg d'Isles Marching Band, and ShowParade of Creutzwald. In the afternoon, other corps will normally join these six groups for a street parade, including Drumband Pharaonia and Saint Martin Boulogne Marching Band.
