Pride of Bristol launch new website
To mark the start of preparations for the 2005 season, Pride of Bristol Senoir Drum & Bugle Corps have launched a new website. Up until now the corps has shared a site with its sister organisation Pride of Bristol Winterguard, but a dispute with DCUK has made this difficult to sustain.
Corps director Andy Hewlett said: "We didn't want the difficulties between the senior corps and DCUK to have any effect on the winterguard. Therefore we decided to launch a specific site for the corps. This should enable our three competitive guards to compete this season without any problem."
The new site has been created by Pride baritone player Steve Annette, and details the summer programme and show music which the Corps will be performing in 2005. The corps will be travelling to both Belgium and Holland this summer to compete in DCE competitions, as well as competing in the European Showband Championships in Bath, England.
In a new venture this year Pride have produced their first winter percussion ensemble. This group will also travel to the continent twice to compete in the CGN Circuit, and will also appear in the WGI European Regional show in England. Percussion caption head Alistair Brownlee said: "This is a new experience for us and will be a massive learning curve. But I am pleased with the standard we have attained so far, and looking forward to seeing how much we can achieve." East Coast Jazz instructor Dana Attwood who has many years of experience in this field has written the ensembles' musical show, whilst the visual book was written by Phil Martin.
Three members of the winterguard will be marching in DCI for the 2005 season. Amy Noon will be returning for a second year with Boston Crusaders, and will be joined by Adele Evens, whilst Jo Barrett will march with Carolina Crown.
Pride of Bristol are currently the only senior corps in the UK, with members accepted from 18 years of age upwards. For further information on the corps please go to the new sites address at www.prideofbristol.com, whilst the winterguard site remains at www.prideofbristol.co.uk.
