Cooperation between CGN and DCF in 2006
Color Guard Nederland and Drum Corps France are investigating possibilities of close cooperation in 2006. A first indoor contest in France is in the works for next year.
At the CGN Individuals & Ensembles contest, wich was held in Huizen on October 15, 2004, seven french musicians of two members corps of the DCF organisation (Edelweiss and Showband USA) took part in the event. This year, one DCF corps put a team in the CGN color guard circuit and took also part in the Indoor Percussion Marching Class Finals in Eindhoven (Showband USA) with brilliant outcomes for their first participation.
In October, approximately 20 french musicians and color guards will participate at the I&E CGN contest 2005. More and more french competitors will appear in the circuits within the next coming years. European drum corps and marching band fans will see an increase of French musicians and color guards on the competition fields.
This year, the French groups La Vaillante, Showband USA, and Edelweiss are taking part in the DCE and CGN competitions, but the big problem is the travel distances to the Netherlands and the huge financial efforts these journeys need. Especialy for corps in the middle of southern part of France. That's why something has to be set up in France, and board members of both dutch and french organisations are planning to make this real as soon as possible. 2006 will be probably the year of this new development.
