Front Ensemble Award becomes permanent award
The Front Ensemble Award will be continued as a permanent award at the DCE European Championships. In 2006 the award was initiated by Cor and Ina Boer Rookhuiszen. Drum Corps Europe has decided to 'adopt' the award by adding it to the list of caption awards.
Barry, the son of Cor and Ina Boer Rookhuiszen, died in february of 2006. He was a talented player in the pit section of Jubal Drum & Bugle Corps. One of Barry's wishes was a special award for the pit section at drum corps shows.
Cor and Ina asked Drum Corps Europe about the idea for a special Front Ensemble Award, and the first award was handed out at the DCE Championships of 2006. Drum Corps Europe has now decided to add the award to the regular caption awards list for both the Open Class and Cadet Class. The award doesn't have effect on the total scores or the judging system.
"It's great that the award will be contined", Cor Boer Rookhuiszen commented. "Many people were very positive about the idea. The front ensemble has always been the only section without its own award." The Front Ensemble Award was won by The Senators in 2006 and 2007. Bruce Vrancken will judge the front ensembles.
