Boston’s 2005 show entitled 'The Promise of Living'
The Boston Crusaders' 2005 production will be entitled 'The Promise of Living'. This show will take the audience through the road of musical and visual diversity that the Boston Crusaders have been known for throughout their success as a Drum Corps International competitor.
The Crusaders will open the show with the well known Bach piece, 'Jesu, Joy of Man's Desiring', which opens with the mystique and the lush sounds of the Crusader brass line, leading to an incredible impact that will set the audience on their feet.
Next will be Leonard Bernstein's 'Overture to Candide'. Listen for all the juxtaposition and related motives as the Boston Crusaders take an innovative slant with this Bernstein favorite. In addition, look for all of the elements of the color guard and drill to bring this piece to life.
The Crusaders are known for impacting and emotional ballads, and 2005 is no different, as they present Copland's 'Promise of Living'. The production will maximize the themes of the show, emphasizing beautiful harmonies, colors and a ballad that the drum corps audience can truly lay their hearts on and take part.
A complete change in mood and presentation takes Boston to their production piece, 'Sing Sang Sung', originally by Gordon Goodwin. It's a tribute to Benny Goodman's version of 'Sing, Sing, Sing'. The Crusader percussion section takes on their charismatic yet versatile ability in this tune.
